A MacBook Pro 2017 is not a reliable multitrack audio recorder. Just saying. At least not with Dante Virtual Soundcard when used in summer. Something throttles the entire machine when it gets too hot. Happened to me several times in open air situations.
In winter times, it works well.
Which I find quite annoying, because… the thing works well, and it was expensive. It's just not built well… Now I could get myself a used M1, but only if it doesn't run the latest version of macOS, because then it likely would not work with my mobile recording audio interface any more. (RME Fireface 400.)
Also, I was paid 50 bucks for the backup recording that wasn't 100% stable now, and I can't buy a 500€ used M1 from that now.

Say what you will about DBrand*, their stickers are strong and their stickum is sticky, even after 3+ years. It came off in one piece with very little residue.

🧵 … but anyways, always make sure to have #Ardour with you for some multitrack recording… via #Dante Virtual Soundcard (DVS), this time… Dante Controller took almost 50% of the CPU of this old #MacBookPro 2017. Due to some unforeseeable changes I had to switch DVS to 32 channel mode in order to record 19 channels.
I'd feel much safer with my #RME #Digiface Dante setup running with a #MacMiniM1 (and Ardour), but budget-wise not even a MacBook Pro 2017 is properly paid on this gig.

Son is staying with us, and he bought a Logitech Flight Control System to start sim flying when he gets home.
Even tho it was PC-based, my #MacbookPro made it plug and play. Configured it quickly, and I taught him how to do stabilized approaches (pitch for airspeed, power for rate of descent). He has taken one actual flight lesson (in a Cessna 162 Skycatcher, yuk) and was making quite decent sim landings into KVNY. He's super tech savvy, and picked it all up very quickly.
