I’ve been hearing stories about people finding Macs in the garbage for years. Last week was finally my lucky day. I’ve only had time to check that it boots — it asks for a keyboard. Soon I’ll check the rest. It will make a great drawing station for the kids.

Just got an old iMac running on @elementary!! I think it might become the new main rig for my recording studio, I just have to get in there and clean out all the dust. It hasn't been cleaned in the almost 15 years its existed, but after that I bet it has enough power to be a great music making machine. I'll finally have a rig dedicated to it!

#Linux #Apple #iMac folks - what Linux distro and age am I likely to get running on a 2009-era Intel iMac? A guide written last year suggested Ubuntu Budgie but it's giving me UVD errors and graphics glitches trying to run a live environment from a USB drive.
Edit: Hoping for "I used X on my Y iMac and it definitely worked", not just "distro F should work fine"
