Dáš si peníze do banky? Ukradneme ti je na základě výmluvy AML/CFT. Necháš si je v hotovosti? Uloupíme ti je beztrestně frivolně a řekneme při tom magické slůvko "podezření z nabytí trestnou činností".

This is also called divinization or deification. It’s from the Latin deificato, meaning “making divine.” This is the glorification of a subject to divine levels & commonly, the treatment of a human being, any other living thing, or an abstract idea in the likeness of a deity.
The original sense of apotheosis relates to religion & is the subject of many works of art. Figuratively “apotheosis” may be used in almost any context for “the deification, glorification, or exaltation of a principle, practice, etc.” So normally attached to an abstraction of some sort.
In religion, apotheosis was a feature of many religions in the ancient world. Some that are active today. It requires a belief that there’s a possibility of newly created God’s, so a polytheistic belief system.
The Abrahamic religions of Christianity, Islam, & Judaism don’t allow this. Though many recognize minor sacred categories such as saints. They’re created by a process called canonization. In Christian theology, there’s a concept of the faithful becoming god-like, called divinization or in Eastern Christianity theosis.
In Hinduism, there’s some range for new deities. A human may be deified by becoming regarded as an avatar of an established deity, usually a major one, or by being regarded as a new, independent deity (usually a minor one), or a mix of the 2.
In art, an apotheosis scene usually shows the subject in the Heavens or rising towards them. They’re often partnered by a number of angels, putti, personifications of virtues, or similar figures.
Especially from Baroque art onwards apotheosis scenes may show rulers, generals, or artists purely as an honorific symbol. In many cases, the “religious” context is classical Greco-Roman pagan religion, like The Apotheosis of Voltaire, which features Apollo. The Apotheosis of Washington (1865) sits high in the dome of the United States of America Capitol Building is another example. Personification of places or abstractions are also shown receiving an apotheosis. The classic composition was suited for artistic placement on ceilings or inside domes.
Before the Hellenistic period, imperial cults were known in ancient Egypt (pharaohs) & Mesopotamia (from Naran-Sin through Hammurabi). In the New Kingdom of Egypt, all deceased pharaohs were deified as the god Osiris, having been identified as Horus while on the throne. They were sometimes referred to as the “son” of other various deities.
The architect Imhotep was defied after his passing away. Though the process seems to have been gradual. This took over 1,000 years, by which time he had become associated with medicine. About a dozen non-royal ancient Egyptians became regarded as deities.
Ancient Greek & Roman religions have many characters who were born as humans but became gods. Like Disney’s Hercules. They’re usually made divine by 1 of the main deities, the 12 Olympians. In the Roman story of Cupid & Psyche, Zeus gave the ambrosia of the gods to the mortal Psyche. This transformed her into a goddess herself.
In the case of the Hellenistic queen Berenice II of Egypt was deified like other rulers of the Ptolemaic dynasty. The court dispersed a myth that her hair, that was cut off to fulfill a vow, had its own apotheosis before becoming the Coma Berenices, a group of stars that still bear her name.
In the Greek world, the 1st leader who granted himself diving honors was Philip II of Macedon. At the wedding to his 6th wife, Philip’s enthroned image was carried in procession among the Olympian gods. Such Hellenistic state leaders might be raised to a status equal to the gods before death, like Alexander the Great, or afterwards, like members of the Ptolemaic dynasty.
A heroic cult status that’s similar to apotheosis was also an honor given to a few reversed artists of the distant past, such as Homer.
Up to the end of the Roman Republic, the god Quirinus was the only 1 the Romans accepted as having undergone apotheosis, for his identification/syncretism with Romulus. Syncretism is the practice of meshing together different beliefs & various schools of thought. Eventually apotheosis in Ancient Rome was a process whereby a deceased ruler was recognized as divine by their successors. This was usually done by a decree of the Senate & popular consent.
The 1st of these cases was the posthumous deification of the last Roman dictator Julius Caesar in 42 BC by his adopted son, the triumvir Caesar Octavian. In addition to showing respect, the present ruler often deified a popular predecessor to legitimize himself & gain popularity himself & gain popularity with the people.
A vote in the Roman Senate, in the later Empire confirming an imperial decree, was the normal official process. But this sometimes followed a period with the unofficial use of deific language or imagery for the individual. This was often done rather discreetly within the imperial circle.
There was then a public ceremony, called a consecratio, including the release of an eagle which flew high. This represents the ascent of the deified person’s soul to Heaven. Imagery featuring the ascent, sometimes using a chariot, was common on coins & in other art.
The largest & most famous example in art in a relief on the base of the Column of Antoninus Pius, showing the emperor & his wife, Faustina the Elder, being carried up by a much larger winged figure, described as representing “Eternity,” as the personifications of “Roma” & the Campus Martius sit below, & eagles fly above. The imperial couple are represented as Jupiter & Juno (or Zeus & Hera).
The historian Dio Cassius, who said he was present, gives a detailed description of the large, & lavish, public consecratio of Perinax, emperor for 3 months in 193, ordered by Septimius Severus.
At the height of the imperial cult during the Roman Empire, sometimes the emperor’s deceased loved ones (heirs, empresses, or lovers) like Hadrian’s Antinous were deified as well.
Deified people were posthumously given the title ‘Divus’ for men & ‘Diva’ for women to their names to signify their divinity. Traditional Roman religion distinguished between a deus (god) & divus (a mortal who became divine or deified), though not consistently. Temple & columns were erected to provide a space for worship.
The imperial cult was mainly popular in the provinces. Especially in the Eastern Empire, where many cultures were well used to deified rulers, & less popular in Rome itself, & among traditionalists & intellectuals.
Some privately, & cautiously, ridiculed the apotheosis of inept & feeble emperors, as in the satire The Pumkinification of (the Divine) Claudius. This is usually attributed to Seneca.
Numerous mortals have been deified into the Taoist pantheon. Examples are Guan Yi, Iron-crutch Li, & Fan Kuai. Song dynasty general Yue Fei was deified during the Ming dynasty. He’s considered by some practitioners to be 1 of the 3 highest-ranking heavenly generals. The Ming dynasty epic Investiture of the Gods deals heavily with deification legends.
In the complicated, & variable, conceptions of deity in Buddhism, the achievement of Buddhahood may be regarded as an achievable goal for the faithful. Many significant deities are considered to have begun as normal people, from Gautama Buddha (the original Buddha & the creator of Buddhism) downwards. Most of these are seen as avatars or re-births of earlier figures.
Some significant Hindu deities, in particular Rama, were also born as humans. He’s seen as an avatar of Vishnu. In more modern times, Swaminarayan is an undoubted & well-documented historical figure, who’s regarded by some Hindus as an avatar of Vishnu, or as being a still more elevated deity. Bharat Mata (Mother India) began as a national personification devised by a group of Bengali intellectuals in the late 19th century. But now it receives some worship.
Various Hindu & Buddhist rulers in the past have been represented as deities, especially after death, from India to Indonesia. Jayavarman VII, King of the Khmer Empire the 1st Buddhist king of Cambodia, had his own features used for the many statues of Buddha/Avalokitevara he erected.
The extreme personality cult instituted by the founder of North Korea, Kim Il-Sung, has been to represent a deification. And continues to this day with the current leader. Even the nation is admittedly atheist.
In Christian theology, instead of the word “apotheosis,” they use the words “deification” or “divinization” or the Greek word “theosis.” Pre-Reformation, & mainstream theology, in both East & West, views Jesus Christ as the preexisting God who undertook mortal existence. Not as a mortal being who attained divinity. A view known as adoptionism. Adoptionism is an early Christian non-Trinitarian doctrine that holds that Jesus was born a mere human being. But Jesus was later adopted by God as His son, usually at Jesus’ baptism or resurrection, rather than being divine from eternity.
It holds that he has made it possible for human beings to be raised to the level of sharing the divine nature as II Peter 1:4 states that he became human to make humans “partakers of the divine nature.”
In John 10:34, Jesus referenced Psalm 82:6 when he stated: “Is it not written in your Law, I have said you are gods?” Other authors stated: “For this is why the Word became man, & the Son of God became the Son of man: so that Man, by entering into communion with the Word & thus receiving divine sonship, might be made God.” Accusations of self deification to some degree may have been placed on heretical such as the Waldensians.
The language of II Peter is taken up by St. Irenaeus, in his famous phrase, “if the Word has been made man, it is so that men may be made gods.” It becomes the standard in Greek theology. In the 14th century, St. Athanasius repeats Irenaeus almost word for word. In the 5th century, St. Cyril of Alexandria says that we shall become sons “by participation” (Greek methexis). Methexis is “group sharing,” where the audience actively participates in the performance.
Deification is the central idea in the spirituality of St. Maximus the Confessor. For whom the doctrine is the result of the Incarnation: “Deification, briefly, is the encompassion & fulfillment of all times and ages.”
The Roman Catholic Church doesn’t use the term “apotheosis” in its theology. This is equivalent to the Greek word theosis are Latin-derived words “divinization” & deification” used in the Latin tradition of the Catholic Church.
The concept has been given less prominence in Western theology than in that of the Eastern Catholic Churches. But is present in the Latin Church’s liturgical prayer.
Despite the theological differences, in the Catholic church art depictions of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in art & the Ascension of Jesus in Christian art do share many similarities in composition to apotheosis subjects. As there are many images of saints being raised into Heaven.
Anthropolatry is the deification & worship of humans. It was practiced in ancient Japan towards their emperors. Followers of Socinianism were later accused of practicing anthropolatry.

Vom Handeln wider besseres Wissen
Man könnte das Handeln wider besseres Wissen als das Grundübel der Moderne oder gar der Aufklärung bezeichnen, denn die Aufklärung stellt den Verstand in den Mittelpunkt des Menschseins, was ihn jedoch seit je her nicht davon abhält unvernünftig zu handeln. Es werden Rohstoffe verbraucht, als stünden sie unendlich zur Verfügung. Die Grenzen des Wachstums sind spätestens seit dem ersten Bericht des Club of Rome aus dem Jahr 1972 bekannt und doch wird so gelebt und gewirtschaftet, als gäbe es sie nicht und die natürlichen Ressourcen stünden unendlich zur Verfügung.
Das Coronavirus hat dem Planeten eine kleine Atempause verschafft. Der menschengemachte Klimawandel schreitet sichtbar voran, die Gletscher verschwinden. Das Polareis schmilzt und gleichwohl werden die Klimaziele Jahr für Jahr verfehlt. Eine Trendwende ist nicht in Sicht. Es werden Kriege geführt, die nur Verlierer kennen und dennoch findet niemand den Mut, sie zu beenden und denjenigen das Handwerk zu legen, die daran verdienen. Eine ohnmächtige UNO wird kaum noch von jemandem respektiert.
Wie schön, dass das Bundesministerium der Verteidigung auf seiner Website schreibt, dass sich die UN neben der Friedenserhaltung und der Kriegsprävention auch anderen Bereichen wie dem Kampf gegen Hunger und Armut sowie dem Schutz natürlicher Ressourcen widmen. Es klingt ein bisschen aus der Zeit gefallen. Bundeskanzler Merz widmete den UN in seiner Regierungserklärung am 18. März 2026 vor dem Treffen der europäischen Regierungschefs am 19./20. März 2026 in Brüssel denn auch keine Silbe. Vielleicht ist es an der Zeit, dass wir aufhören, uns etwas vorzumachen, wie Jonathan Franzen mit Blick auf die Klimakatastrophe 2020 in seinem gleichlautenden Essay rhetorisch fragte. Man muss nicht an eine nahende Apokalypse glauben, um diese Frage in diesen Tagen zu verallgemeinern.
Sapere aude, habe Mut, dich deines eigenen Verstandes zu bedienen, ist die zentrale Botschaft des großen deutschen Philosophen Immanuel Kant (22. April 1724 – 12. Februar 1804). Klar war allerdings zu seiner Zeit schon, dass der Verstand allein es nicht richten wird. Es bedurfte und bedarf eben auch Mut, um sich der rationalen Erkenntnis zu bedienen. Die KI-generierte Definition von Mut ist „die Fähigkeit, trotz Angst, Unsicherheit oder Risiken zu handeln und Herausforderungen anzunehmen, die einem wichtig sind. Es bedeutet, die Komfortzone zu verlassen, für eigene Überzeugungen einzustehen und ist eher ein überlegtes Handeln als Abwesenheit von Furcht. Mut ist trainierbar und stärkt das Selbstvertrauen.“ Alles nicht falsch, aber unvollständig.
Die Herausforderung wird dann besonders deutlich, wenn die rationale Erkenntnis zu Konflikten mit der herrschenden Ordnung und im persönlichen Bereich zu unbequemen Ergebnissen führt. Wenn ich gerne Wiener Schnitzel esse, sollte ich mir vielleicht keinen Kälbermaststall ansehen. Spätestens dann kommt nämlich eine andere Kategorie ins Spiel, die der Moral und mit ihr die persönlichen und gesellschaftlichen Wertvorstellungen. Ein weites Feld mit zahlreichen Tretminen. Eine beliebte Form dem auszuweichen ist die Entwicklung von Doppelmoral. Wasser predigen und Wein trinken (Heinrich Heine, Deutschland. Ein Wintermärchen, 1844)
Der Autor und Dramaturg Bernd Stegemann legt den Finger in die Wunde, wenn er die herrschende „Luxusüberzeugung“ als die gängige Moral anprangert, deren Verfechter nicht bereit sind, die persönlichen Konsequenzen ihrer Moralvorstellungen zu tragen (Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung, 7. März 2026).
Skepsis gegenüber augenfälliger Moral ist insbesondere in der Politik angebracht. Die schlimmsten Schreckensherrschaften sind im Namen hehrer Ziele etabliert worden. Von den Kreuzzügen über die Schreckensherrschaft der Jakobiner, Stalins Terrorregime, Hitlers Faschismus, die Roten Khmer, deren Terror rund 1,7 Mio. Menschen das Leben kostete, die „tugendhaften“ Taliban, Pinochets Folterknechte bis zu Putins „Spezialoperation“ in der Ukraine und Benjamin Netanjahus Vernichtungsfeldzug gegen die Palästinenser im Gaza. Die Liste wird lang und länger, wenn man ein bisschen darüber nachdenkt. Selbst die Grünen als einstige Friedenspartei (Frieden schaffen ohne Waffen) dürfen in dieser Reihe leider nicht unerwähnt bleiben, wenn sie im Chor mit Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann unermüdlich für die deutsche Rüstungsindustrie werben. Deutschland ist mit einem Weltmarktanteil von ca. 5,7% (2021–2025) der viertgrößte Waffenexporteur weltweit. Petra Kelly dürfte sich im Grab umdrehen.
Als die Menschen begannen, sich aus der laut Kant selbst verschuldeten Unmündigkeit zu befreien, begannen sie, immer perfekterer Waffen zu erfinden und sich ihrer zu bedienen, Reichtum völlig ungeniert auf Kosten anderer anzuhäufen, die Erde sich mit christlichem Ethos Untertan zu machen, Tiere als Mittel zum Zweck zu benutzen (bis 1990 galten sie im Bürgerlichen Gesetzbuch als Sachen), das Wasser und die Luft zu vergiften und die schützende Hülle um unseren Planeten herum zu zerstören.
Was für ein Verstand ist das, der in zwei Weltkriegen mehr als 100 Millionen Tote nicht nur hinnimmt, sondern zum Zweck seines Handelns macht? Es drängt sich die Frage auf, was das Korrektiv der Moral wert ist. Der christliche Glaube hinderte die Amtskirchen jedenfalls nicht daran, sich mit dem Nationalsozialismus zu arrangieren. Der Film “The Zone of Interest” (2023) führt eindrücklich vor Augen, wie man ein paar hundert Metern von den Verbrennungsöfen entfernt „Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht“ singen kann.
Neben der Doppelmoral gibt es moralische Zwickmühlen, wie Michael J. Sandel anschaulich in seinem Buch über die Gerechtigkeit ausführt (Berlin 2013, S.34 ff.) Es gibt Situationen, die eine moralisch einwandfreie Antwort nicht zulassen. Entscheide ich mich für den Tod eines (unschuldigen) Menschen, wenn dadurch viele gerettet werden können? Keine einfach zu beantwortende Frage, wie die Beispiele von Sandel zeigen.
Brauchen wir einen neuen Thomas Hobbes (1588 – 1679), der in seiner Zeit unter dem Eindruck permanenter Kriege in Europa seine Theorie des Menschen als des Menschen Wolf entwickelte und daraus schlussfolgerte, dass nur ein starker Staat seine Bürger voreinander und vor äußeren Feinden schützen könne (Leviathan). Da geraten schnell andere Güter in unter die Räder, die Freiheit und die Menschenwürde.
In unsicheren Zeiten wächst die Bereitschaft, Freiheit zugunsten von vermeintlicher Sicherheit zu opfern. Autoritäre Regime und ihre Wegbereiter spielen auf diesem Klavier. Schreckliche Juristen wie Carl Schmitt und fürchterliche Philosophen wie Martin Heidegger liefern den theoretischen Überbau.
Wahrscheinlich hilft dagegen nur eine neue transnationale und demokratische Staatstheorie (und Praxis). Der kürzlich verstorbene Jürgen Habermas mit seinem unermüdlichen Plädoyer für ein starkes demokratisches Europa als Gegenmodell zu den libertären Fantasien eines Peter Thiel kommt einem in den Sinn, während andere Talkshow Philosophen dazu anscheinend wenig bis gar nichts zu sagen haben.
Was also tun?
Doppelmoral als solche zu bezeichnen, wo immer sie sichtbar wird. Sich ehrlich machen. Moralische Zwickmühlen nicht leugnen, sondern transparent damit umgehen. Unausweichliche Konflikte friedlich austragen und nicht unter den Teppich kehren. Kinder und Jugendliche stärken. In Bildung und Kultur investieren. Die Freiheit der Kunst respektieren, auch wenn man nicht einer Meinung ist, sich aber Fakten nicht als Meinung verkaufen zu lassen. Nicht resignieren. Im persönlichen Bereich die Kräfte konzentrieren, also vornehmlich das zu tun, was man liebt, worin man gut ist und was anderen nicht schadet, sondern möglichst nützt. Und Vorsicht vor der wohlfeilen pauschalen Forderung nach Bürokratieabbau, die gerade auf kaum einer politischen Agenda fehlt, denn wir erinnern uns, dass nur ein starker Staat den Wolf im Zaum hält.
Der Kampf gegen das Handeln wider besseres Wissen wird nicht ohne die Einbeziehung emotionalen Wissens auskommen. Hier dürften auch die Grenzen künstlicher Intelligenz deutlich werden, die neben dem Bürokratieabbau als Wundermittel zur Bewältigung der Zukunftsaufgaben gepriesen wird. Eine KI generierte Definition des Handelns wider besseres Wissen bezeichnet es als Willensschwäche, wenn man trotz Kenntnis, dass eine Handlung falsch, unvernünftig oder schädlich ist, sich für sie entscheidet. Na, also. Das eröffnet neue Perspektiven für den Einsatz von KI im politischen Willensbildungsprozess, vielleicht auch in der internationalen Diplomatie, wenn es um Wege zur Beendigung irrsinniger Kriege geht. Frag doch einfach mal bei ChatGPT nach Wegen zur Beendigung des Krieges im Nahen Osten.

Tweede Kamer stemt in met Cbw en Wwke
De Tweede Kamer heeft vandaag de wetsvoorstellen aangenomen voor de Cyberbeveiligingswet (Cbw) en de Wet weerbaarheid kritieke entiteiten (Wwke). Daarmee zet Nederland een belangrijke stap in het versterken van de digitale en fysieke weerbaarheid van organisaties en overheden tegen toenemende dreigingen.
De Tweede Kamer heeft ook gestemd over de ingediende moties en amendementen. De uitslag van die stemming wordt later gepubliceerd op de website van de Tweede Kamer.
Wetsvoorstellen naar Eerste Kamer
Nu de Tweede Kamer de wetsvoorstellen heeft aangenomen, neemt de Eerste Kamer ze in behandeling. Die brengt naar verwachting eerst op beide wetsvoorstellen een verslag uit, waarop de regering reageert met een nota. Daarna vindt naar verwachting een plenaire behandeling plaats. De Eerste Kamer beslist over alle vervolgstappen en de planning daarvan. Nadat ook de Eerste Kamer de wetsvoorstellen heeft aangenomen, is de parlementaire behandeling van de wetsvoorstellen afgerond.
De regering streeft ernaar de Cyberbeveilingswet, de Wet weerbaarheid kritieke entiteiten en de bijbehorende lagere regelgeving gelijktijdig in het tweede kwartaal van 2026 in werking te laten treden. De haalbaarheid van deze planning is afhankelijk van de voortgang van de parlementaire behandeling.
Uitwerking wetten in regelgeving
Parallel aan het parlementaire traject wordt gewerkt aan de onderliggende regelgeving. Daarnaast zijn ook de ministeriële regelingen in voorbereiding. De ministeriële regelingen bevatten een gedetailleerde en vaak sectorspecifieke uitwerking van de Cyberbeveiligingswet, de Wet weerbaarheid kritieke entiteiten, het Cyberbeveiligingsbesluit en het Besluit weerbaarheid kritieke entiteiten.

Tweede Kamer stemt in met wet BSN en Wdo Caribisch Nederland
Vandaag heeft de Tweede Kamer ingestemd met het wetsvoorstel van staatssecretaris Szabó. Dit wetsvoorstel maakt de invoering van het burgerservicenummer (BSN) en voorzieningen van de digitale overheid op Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba mogelijk.
Sterke digitale overheid
Staatssecretaris Szabó: “Iedereen in Nederland heeft recht op goede dienstverlening van de overheid. De invoering van het BSN is een belangrijke eerste stap om de digitale overheidsdienstverlening voor inwoners van Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba te verbeteren. Alleen met een veilig systeem voor de identificatie van personen en een sterke digitale overheid, kunnen we zorgen voor een toekomst waarin iedereen makkelijk, betrouwbaar en veilig zaken met de overheid kan regelen, aan de balies en online.”
Betere overheidsdienstverlening
Het wetsvoorstel maakt het mogelijk dat de inwoners van Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba een BSN krijgen en de lokale overheden het BSN en DigiD mogen gebruiken. Met een BSN kunnen de inwoners DigiD aanvragen en inloggen op websites van de overheid. Hierdoor kunnen inwoners van Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba in de toekomst steeds vaker ook online zaken regelen. Niet alleen met lokale overheden maar ook met met overheden en organisaties in Europees Nederland. Dit is bijvoorbeeld handig voor aanstaande studenten. Het BSN is een uniek en privacy vriendelijk persoonsnummer.
Veilig en toegankelijk
Het BSN en de Wet digitale overheid (Wdo) worden stap voor stap ingevoerd binnen de bestaande systemen en processen. Inwoners krijgen eerst een BSN, de nummers worden geregistreerd in de lokale bevolkingsadministraties. In de komende jaren kunnen meer overheidsorganisaties overstappen naar het gebruik van het BSN en DigiD, als de systemen zijn aangepast.
Voor organisaties die willen aansluiten op DigiD gaan dezelfde beveiligingseisen gelden als in Europees Nederland. Ook komt er in de toekomst een verplichte zelfevaluatie voor de bestuurscolleges. Daarmee kunnen ze jaarlijks de veiligheid en betrouwbaarheid van de bevolkingsregistratie onderzoeken. Daarnaast is het belangrijk dat inwoners goede informatie krijgen over de invoering van het BSN en nieuwe online overheidsdiensten.
Amendementen
De Kamer stemde ook in met de amendementen over de identiteitskaart BES en het verplicht gebruik van gegevens. Deze amendementen werden door de leden White en Kathmann bij de wet ingediend. Het amendement over het verplicht gebruik van gegevens regelt dat overheidsorganisaties gebruik moeten maken van de persoonsgegevens van het openbare lichaam. Ook worden zij verplicht om onjuiste gegevens te melden aan het verantwoordelijke bestuurscollege.
Het amendement over de identiteitskaart BES zorgt ervoor dat op termijn het BSN wordt opgenomen op de identiteitskaart (sédula). Daardoor heeft de burger het nummer altijd bij de hand.
Vervolg Eerste Kamer
Het wetsvoorstel wordt nu voorgelegd aan de Eerste Kamer. Als de Eerste Kamer instemt, worden de wetswijzigingen definitief. Men verwacht dat inwoners van Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba in 2025 een BSN krijgen.
