this time about a Caribbean island called Saba, which is really small and has a very unique airport. It has also been getting a lot of attention from travel writers this year.

I also remember the device I saw it on back then in the Westerwald region: It was a smart white SABA, I'd guess it was the T 6716 color telecomputer, if my memory serves me correctly. My parents had a certain eye for good design.

Inwoners Caribisch Nederland krijgen BSN
Vanaf 11 november 2025 krijgen inwoners van Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba een BSN. Na de Tweede Kamer heeft nu ook de Eerste Kamer ingestemd met de plannen. Daarmee is er groen licht voor de invoering van het burgerservicenummer (BSN) en voorzieningen van de digitale overheid op de eilanden.
Dit betekent dat de afdelingen burgerzaken van de 3 eilanden het BSN kunnen uitreiken aan hun inwoners. De inwoners kunnen vanaf 11 november 2025 hun persoonlijke BSN-brief ophalen tijdens de BSN-ophaalweken. Na de ophaalweken kunnen ze hun BSN altijd opvragen bij de afdeling burgerzaken. Inwoners die er al één hebben, houden hetzelfde nummer en kunnen ook een brief ophalen.
“Stap op weg naar gelijkwaardige dienstverlening”
Staatssecretaris Van Marum: “Hiermee is weer een belangrijke stap gezet op weg naar een gelijkwaardige dienstverlening voor inwoners van Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba. Daarbij vind ik het belangrijk dat burgers goed weten wat de nieuwe digitale mogelijkheden voor ze betekenen. Daarom worden inwoners geïnformeerd over wat het BSN is en hoe ze er veilig mee om moeten gaan. Alle informatie is meertalig en zowel online als offline te vinden. We doen er alles aan om zoveel mogelijk inwoners te bereiken.”
Betere overheidsdienstverlening
Met het BSN hebben alle inwoners straks 1 uniek persoonsnummer voor de hele overheid. Hiermee kunnen ze het inlogmiddel DigiD aanvragen. Ook kunnen overheidsorganisaties in Caribisch Nederland de komende jaren overstappen naar gebruik van het BSN en DigiD, zodra hun systemen zijn aangepast. Dit maakt het voor inwoners in de toekomst mogelijk om met een BSN en DigiD steeds meer zaken met de overheid online te regelen.

One of my favorite places to visit, and one of my favorite airports to fly in and out of: Saba!
A tiny Dutch Caribbean island, the runway is the shortest commercial runway in the world and has sheer cliffs at both ends. It's a load of fun, and the diving is great!

In de kieskringen #Zeeland, #Flevoland en de BES-eilanden missen we nog toezeggingen. Maar ook op de plekken met veel toezeggingen, hebben we er nog meer nodig. In 2021 zagen we hoe streng de Kiesraad keurt: zelfs kleine afwijkingen - zoals een handtekening die nét niet overeenkomt met je paspoort - kunnen al tot afwijzing leiden.
Daarom is het cruciaal dat we overal extra verklaringen ophalen. Dat lukt
