A question for anyone that is in the know:
Between an Nvidia Riva TNT2 Pro AGP and an ATI Radeon LE (both 32MB), which would you say is better, or worse, and at what? Any recommendations?
The TechPowerUp DB has a bunch of numbers that don't mean a whole lot to me (along with descriptions that reek of "AI wrote this" 😅), but I believe it's these:

I've leveled up by finally, at long last, purchasing a label printer thingamabob. So long, not being able to distinguish identically looking but different voltage cables.
Now to see where else can I apply this newfound organizational super power.

Shot on a #Sony #Mavica #FD7. For those of you who feel VGA quality was quite good enough 😀
I love that there was a brief period where it was feasible to store multiple (over 20!) photos on a single 1.44Mb disk, and that by having a camera directly save to them it actually made it super easy to get photos off of your camera.
No dongles, docks, or custom cables. Just plonk the disk into your computer, done!

Brand New's The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me is such a great album. I come back to it every now and then and then play it on repeat until the bits are scratched up, only to repeat it again sometime later.

Last weekend I spent fixing the analog board of this #Apple #Macintosh #ColorClassic I have recently purchased. Its display was unstable.
I feel like I finally "figured out" desoldering, which honestly was my biggest weakness.
It was mildly terrifying to turn it on afterwards, but it works!
While a great many folk have done this before, it was my biggest restoration project yet. I'm happy that I was able to pull it off and not kill it — or myself 😅

Say hello to my "new to me" #Imation #SuperDisk drive, which I got to have permanently connected to my #iMac #G4 for the few floppy disk based games I have.
Up until now I had been using a generic USB drive. This works fine, but I had to keep unplugging it as I use it for old Windows/DOS shenanigans too. Now I don't have to do that anymore.
Surprisingly enough, this drive also reads floppy disks *much* faster somehow. Did not expect that.

Having #FreeDOS #DOS #MSDOS tell me how little I know of that environment.
Apparently I have 32MB of expanded memory but #MasterOfOrion #MOO thinks I have less than 1K. No configuration combinations have yielded anything more useful yet, and I have no clue if it's my lack of knowledge or actual technical limitations with FreeDOS + #JemmEx or #HimemSX + #Jemm386 and this game.
I need to put this down for another day/never. I just got the physical game delivered and just wanted to see it boot up 🥲 -

Last year I had to quickly pull my guide after posting it as I was having issues reproducing the results, but after a bit of a long wait it's finally back. I'm glad I took the time to redo this one as I'm now also back to using the Flatpak installed VSCode, further reducing my layered packages. Nice :) -

On a related note; I took a tiny gamble and ordered this #USBC power dongle thingy and it's been working real nicely with the #X61. Since most of the devices I have use USBC it's really convenient to be able to charge the X61 with a USBC charger too.
I didn't want to actually modify the laptop to add USBC charging, but carrying a small dongle like this is easy enough. Neat!

New (OEM) 8-cell battery came in for the #Thinkpad #X61. I'm using the Lenovo software's built-in functionality to let it do a full charge-discharge-then-charge-again cycle to see what the battery thinks its capacity/health is like. It's a brand new battery so should be good, but it needs to figure that out by itself, so to speak.
It's pretty nice to have it do all this automatically. I can just leave the charger connected while it does its thing. Neat :).

Sadly the disks are 800K Mac formatted so I can't actually read them on my Macs as they are "too modern." I think it's ok if I fetch an image from the Garden in this case 😄️
This was apparently a limited edition, though I don't know how limited it was.

Flashback to last Friday where I had to burn *seven* discs to install a factory fresh XP installation on my "new" #Thinkpad #X61.
I had some trouble getting a generic #WindowsXP SP3 installation disc to work (it kept blue-screening), but as luck would have it some friendly archiver had put the official X61 XP SP2 restore discs on #InternetArchive. Score!
Not entirely sure why #Lenovo thought 6 discs was reasonable though. I guess all the bloatware had to be stored somewhere 😅️

I got curious about #StarWarsGalaxies again as I never really had a chance to play this, and was wondering if any of the community led incarnations still supported #WindowsXP. Sadly #SWGLegends does not, nor does #SWGR. I am cautiously optimistic that #SWGEmu might actually work. At least the launcher installed and boots up. Right now I'm waiting for it to finish downloading a metric ton of files before I can see if the game itself wants to boot. Fingers crossed?

And here it is. Monday evening the bar arrived. I always imagined a bar here in my home office to be able to sit and enjoy the mountains view, and the #iMac G4 was part of that dream. I'm really happy we were able to finally make this one come true.
I still need to fiddle a bit with exact placement of things as there's some constraints. But hey, look at this. Isn't it something :-).
So, uh, rate my #WorkFromHome setup, I guess?
