So here's where the project sits at the end of day 1 - It's a #Blackberry Q10 keyboard working through a #PiPico #RP2350 controller. I'm making a physical keyboard case for my phone because I'm outrageously tired of virtual keyboards.

That's a PMOD implementation of the Q10 keyboard by Solder Party (shout-out to @arturo182) - I don't think you can buy these anymore but I bought two of them years ago and squirreled them away for the day I'd have a suitable microcontroller for the project.

🦇 Atari ST is online: We had visits from HighWire – the custom-built browser for Atari's classic TOS (Tramiel Operating System). It’s an incredible feeling to serve our text content to a 16-bit system from the late 80s!

🎮 Netscape 4.0 on a PSP?! Yes, you read that right. Someone actually got the Netscape Navigator from 1997 running on a PlayStation Portable (with a massive 653 clicks!). This is most likely running via a homebrew Linux port or a DOSBox emulation on the handheld. Absolute madness!

👔 The Business Dinos live: We also recorded visits from old BlackBerry 10 devices and a genuine IBM OS/2 Warp system!

Whether you’re dragging your old Ataris out of the basement or testing obscure emulators on consoles – the Frog pond is open for you. Keep it up!

I just took advantage of the extended early bird pricing on the Clicks Communicator. It's the most excited I've been about a phone since the BlackBerry KEY2 LE was announced at the end of 2018 (eight years ago).

I tried to talk myself out of it, but with the price of consumer tech, in general, continuing to surge, $429 was too good a deal to pass up for the value they are offering. I want them to succeed.

First post from the BlackBerry. Updated the root certs, and the Pinafore Web client is the only accessible webpage I can use. That said, I may be picking up BlackBerry 10 development of a Mastodon client. If BB10 used to run Twitter for pretty much the same thing back in the day, it should be able to run on BB10. ... An hour and a small pile of plastic clippings and filings later, I managed to fit the screen in the original top part of the case.

They weren't lying! The screen is a bit bigger on the front, but required a lot more room on the back. You have to remove everything but a 2mm edge underneath the bezel of the screen, to which it adheres with some heavy duty double sided tape.

From what I hear, the screen is actually surplus from the old #Blackberry handheld devices. For this to work in the GBC, they need a controller board, which is fixed with dreaded #kapton tape. There is plenty of room for this though, and it seems like an electrically safe sandwich of hackish goodness.

Fully assembled, I turned the unit on and everything just works! Here it is, with a brightness of 2 out of 4. I turned it down to 1 afterwards, and that's fine too.

Not sure how much I'll be using it, but installing the mod was a lot of fun and very satisfying.

I set up TOTP 2FA on the Itch.io account I used to publish my first visual novel a few days ago (see my pinned post for the VN). I ordinarily have no reason to take note of instructions for setting up app-based 2FA, but something in the Itch instructions caught my attention and led me to suspect that Itch has not touched the page in some time...
