Для управления производительностью видеокарты и просто мониторинга, очень приглянулась GUI-софтина LACT.
Опакечена в дистрибутивах линуха и не требуется сборка из исходников.
В моём случае это в контексте ATI/AMD, позволяет управлять уже готовыми профилями и создавать свои (Performance). Менять режимы работы вентиляторов охлаждения. Смотреть температуру, загруженность и т.п. на графиках (Historical Charts).
И полезно иногда глянуть сколько видео-памяти потребляет то или иной приложение (Process Monitor).
Разгон, дамп BIOS'а и т.п. тоже присутствуют.
Не совсем интуитивно, но часть инструментария доступны из выпадающего меню в правом верхнем углу (окна софтины).

Я большой фанат ноутбуков и любых схожих с ними устройств. В моей небольшой коллекции есть самые разные модели: с десктопными Pentium 4, с дискретными GPU от S3 Graphics и даже парочку «отвальных» ноутбуков с MXM-видеокартами. Однако одна модель особенно выделяется — ведь Compaq M300 был не только мощным и при этом компактным ноутбуком родом из 1999 года, но ещё и игровым — благодаря дискретной графике от ATi.
