El mes era junio del 2005. Recién había conseguido PC nueva, y aunque ya conocía la palabra "Linux", todavía no lo usaba para nada. Tenía #WindowsXP y acababa de aprender sobre los temas y cómo parchar el uxtheme.dll para aplicarlos. Y era fan de las Mac, así que era obvio a dónde iría eso. Lo cierto es que quedé muy contento con el resultado :nc_aww: .

I spent more time than I care to admit doing dual-stack IP detection in a way that works on modern browsers and all the way back to Internet Explorer 6.
I learned that IE6 will refuse to do XHR unless the host+port are identical to the current URL, and it doesn't support CORS. So, the workaround was using JSONP.
I wonder how many other people in the world have IE6 running with IPv6 support...

Got into the #retropc stuff to make a #3dfx demo on some old #3dfxvoodoo2 and Athlon X2 3800+ I had still lying around.
Just booted #windowsxp from a SATA SSD and boy is it fast. Imagining the #windows kernel isn’t complete crap, I do not get, how they could f**k up #windows10 and #windows11 so bad.
OK there might be some more essential services running, but we have GPU accelerated rendering, x-time CPU performance and x-hundred times storage transfer speeds, which should offset any new essential features… #windows #3dfx #demoscene #retropc -

I have made a new release of the Principia builds for Windows XP, with SDL3 and all the newly implemented Dear Imgui dialogs included. Now that all dialogs are implemented the XP builds have become a lot more usable - you can do a lot more in the sandbox and publish levels to the community site too.

I myself also managed to find some better graphics drivers for my XP machine without broken OpenGL support... so now everything looks like it should in my screenshots!

Сегодня окончательно день основания сборки WinXTended XP, основанной на Windows XP Pro SP3 с доп. софтом и обоями.
У этой сборки появилась ветка дискуссии на Реддит, Гитхаб страница и на блюскай тоже может вестись дискусия про проект. При желании каждый может присоедениться к разработке и внести свой вклад, например, предложить свои идеи, указать на баги и способы их решения и так далее.
Команда разработки называется XTended Team (типа WinXTended Team, часть семейства ведь). В скором времени будут расширяться места обсуждения сборки.

Latest update on this saga: a dead GPU forced upgrade plans ahead of schedule. No problem at all as this GTX 960 slotted in nicely and runs like a dream! Pushed Unreal Tournament 2004 to 300-400FPS at max settings last night.
Also cloned my Windows 10 drive which I use to review games on my 4:3 #Steam Curator page to an SSD and configured a reliable dual boot setup. Drive letters were removed from each opposite OS to avoid activating CHKDSK on every boot.
