Imagine a series of automated drones checking utility infrastructure for faults—that is the new world we are building right now.
Let's call it "The Dawn of the Swarm". I could see some dramatic Star Wars-style theme music going with it!
What's it all about? Tiny robots and drones operating in coordinated swarms, creating intelligent solutions to complex problems across sectors:
Agriculture: Precision farming and crop monitoring
Healthcare: Targeted drug delivery and medical logistics
Infrastructure: Autonomous inspection and maintenance
The idea is inspired by the collective behavior of social insects and birds. Known as "swarm intelligence", it provides the foundational algorithm for decentralized coordination and insight. Does any body know of any way to program this robot with #platformio ? This is an old programmable toy from 2009? 2013? By #Roboni #Robonii I can find the Windows (modified) version of the Arduino IDE, it has a #ATXMEGA processor but I'm not sure which one. I do have an old windows machine setup to use it, but ideally I would like to use my linux machines.

I'm #impressed by what it accomplishes; it is quite the #feat, and not totally #obvious at first glance.
But it means that little control module is really quite #complicated, and is a dense little #blob of high-power circuitry. It would be expensive enough just for that.
But it's much, much worse.
Because the #control #module is #programmable.

Researchers uncover a new CRISPR-like system in animals that can edit the human genome
A team of researchers led by Feng Zhang at the McGovern Institute for Brain Research at MIT and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard has uncovered the first #programmable #RNA-#guided system in #eukaryotes — organisms that include fungi, plants, and animals.
In a study published today in Nature, the team describes how the system is based on a protein called #Fanzor. They showed that Fanzor proteins use RNA as a guide to target DNA precisely, and that Fanzors can be reprogrammed to edit the genome of human cells.
The #compact Fanzor systems have the potential to be more easily delivered to cells and tissues as therapeutics than #CRISPR-#Cas systems, and further refinements to improve their targeting efficiency could make them a valuable new technology for human #genome #editing
