This is one of my projects. A tool to help me post my iPhone photos to #PixelFed (https://pixey.org/iolaire). My one other guy and I use it, and I'm happy with it. Yes, it’s #VibeCoded, and it’s still a lot of work.

I wanted this tool for myself because I was not posting photos because I found the AltText to be work. AltTextBot did something similar, but I wanted the AltText there from the get-go so it would federate. Then came scheduled posts and bulk uploads.

Further down the #Ai perversity I #Vibecoded

The local model (which, with only 2 Billion parameters is dumb as a tRump administration official) has even found room for snark;
"The council has been informed on previous occasions and has thanked us for our interest."

The svg graph library has various filters, of which many are newspapery.

Поставил свой личный рекорд - две навайбкоденных тулы для себя за день.

Предыстория: я в какой-то момент решил, что хочу побаловаться не только с LoRa антеннами, но и с LTE для дачи, продал свой NanoVNA-H4 и взял себе NanoVNA-F V3, который работает до 6 GHz.
Но в какой-то момент обнаружил, что в него нельзя вставить флешку и он не делает скриншоты фреймбуфера как это делал более простой и старый вариант.

Впрочем, это меня не остановило и я быстренько с Codex нафигачил две штуки:

• vnacg - генератор графиков в стиле NanoVNA по S1P/S2P входному файлу (их пишет NanoVNA), только в большом разрешении, без ограничения по маркерам и ещё пачкой других фишечек, которые делают демонстрацию замера именно в качестве графика ещё удобнее.
• vna-android - крайне примитивная, но полезная в поле штука, которая запускается на телефоне и по USB забирает фреймбуфер с NanoVNA, грубо говоря делая скриншоты извне.

Обе тулы работают только с NanoVNA-F V3, но если вдруг будет нужно, то добавить поддержку других моделей не должно быть большой проблемой.

Теперь я могу и прямо в поле пошарить скриншот, и сгенерить красивый детальный графичек уже дома.

Man I'd have loved it if it wasn't so obviously slopped (and that too so badly that I'd rather just use one of aerc/mutt because they're actually written sensibly and usable and coherent and not TUIslop)

And of course it provides an MCP because you totally need an agent to read your mail for you right?

I finally read the code my team leader #VibeCoded today to replace the code I wrote. The code in question were simple #Python based tests for our infrastructure. Now I fully admit I am not the best #Python coder, it's just not my strength. But the tests mostly worked. I say mostly because they sometimes failed due to a race condition inherent to the product being tested and not the test code itself.

I finally read the code my team leader #VibeCoded today to replace the code I wrote. The code in question were simple #Python based tests for our infrastructure. Now I fully admit I am not the best #Python coder, it's just not my strength. But the tests mostly worked. I say mostly because they sometimes failed due to a race condition inherent to the product being tested and not the test code itself.

Sorry to hear this. I used FreeCAD as a hobby modelling app for NURBS abd NURBS Surfaces.

But NOTHING with #aislop or #vibecoded will be installed or used on my computer.

When bugs will start to crawl without reason, security issues, malfunctions and technical debt creeps in, the team will regret it.

@janantos @thefish @akmur I've learned how to program but was never a professional coder myself.

However, I do fancy some #PIM tools I'd like to use. If there's nothing on the market, I code them myself in Python - the only language I'm at least confident with.

Some of my programs are enhanced by #LLM (test cases, new features to existing code, ...) and a few projects were #vibecoded from scratch to end. That's because I would not have invested my spare time and vibe-coded (but working) is better to me than not existing at all. I think I can judge the security implications for me during coding as well as for the users during execution time.

I do have a small Claude subscription and have access to good local models as well.

Those are my personal trade-offs for now.

I respect LLM resentments and I share them for the most part. However, it always depends on how you're using a tool.

There is a major flaw in my #Vibecoded AI harness...
... It splits the 15 page mission prompt into individual Working Units fine...

...but because the router tries cheaper models first on the easier WUs, each WU grades itself 'FINE!' after it completes execution...
... of course, this does not always work.
The fix is to add another checker tier outside of the sandbox of the WU.

You may now cackle at me and throw rotten vegetables.

I am pretty excited to soon start selling a PCB project I created. The Weblink Backpack- I designed around the Xiao ESP32 board, making it easy to connect to a controllable, neon transformer.

The backpack earned its keep when a client wanted their neon to be dimmable but didn’t want to see the knob — while still wanting the knob to be reachable. I realized that I could use my backpack design to bring the dimmer knob to the client's phone.
Since then, these backpacks have become my go to for just about any blinking or dimming design. I have started recommending them to others as the most convenient way to blink tubes except I need to start making them available- hence this video-

A friend of mine just came for a consultation about her presentation website that her relative #vibeCoded before dinner. Apart from few fairly minor issues the #AI did a banger job (including admin) and she has a solution to her itch.
I wrote down next iteration of instructions for the #LLM for her and I would expect all of those to be done before she walks home.
And I’m sooooo glad that the solution was not based on #WordPress.

“But surely there’s already an app for this, no?” 🤔

And the answer is: yes, I’m 100% sure there are many. 🤷‍♂️

BUT… finding them, comparing them, testing them, creating an account, discovering the free version is too limited, realizing they don’t work exactly the way you want, getting annoyed, trying another one… 🥱🥱🥱 can easily take more time than building the perfect tiny solution for your own use case.

I accept this is a new variant of the #NotInventedHere syndrome. Except that this time, for a not-so-small category of simple but useful apps, it actually makes sense.

Not because we should rebuild everything. But because sometimes the fastest path is not searching for the right tool. It is creating the small tool you need.

The app itself is very simple: basically a web wrapper on top of an Excel file.
