#vibecoded — Public Fediverse posts

Live and recent posts from across the Fediverse tagged #vibecoded, aggregated by home.social.

  1. A friend of mine just came for a consultation about her presentation website that her relative #vibeCoded before dinner. Apart from few fairly minor issues the #AI did a banger job (including admin) and she has a solution to her itch.
I wrote down next iteration of instructions for the #LLM for her and I would expect all of those to be done before she walks home.
And I’m sooooo glad that the solution was not based on #WordPress.

  2. I #vibecoded in 2h a simple #app to manage shared expenses for trips with friends. When I was showing it, the obvious question came up:

“But surely there’s already an app for this, no?” 🤔

And the answer is: yes, I’m 100% sure there are many. 🤷‍♂️

BUT… finding them, comparing them, testing them, creating an account, discovering the free version is too limited, realizing they don’t work exactly the way you want, getting annoyed, trying another one… 🥱🥱🥱 can easily take more time than building the perfect tiny solution for your own use case.

I accept this is a new variant of the #NotInventedHere syndrome. Except that this time, for a not-so-small category of simple but useful apps, it actually makes sense.

Not because we should rebuild everything. But because sometimes the fastest path is not searching for the right tool. It is creating the small tool you need.

The app itself is very simple: basically a web wrapper on top of an Excel file.

  3. It's most probably a #vibecoded crap, does anybody know a good #2FA Linux program that works with #GTK?

And no, I am not using #passwordstore for it, I already use it for my password, so putting all eggs in one basket is not my style.

  4. Thousands of #VibeCoded Apps Expose Corporate and Personal Data on the Open Web - wired.com/story/thousands-of-v "Companies like Lovable, Base44, Replit, and Netlify use AI to let anyone build a web app in seconds—and in thousands of cases, spill highly sensitive data onto the public internet." as expected...

  5. Here my first #vibecoded experimental project: #ArtenTracker (species tracker). My goal is to make #biodiversity data stored in scientific databases better accessible. Data is from #gbif. With this #prototype I want to find out whether pursuing this project further is promising. Feedback is very welcome. 10. Who needs real people when you can have AI friends, personalized to a generated profile of yourself?? Based on your personal blog, mastodon, github, tumblr, etc, or just freeform text files.

    github.com/audiodude/sudomake-

Self hosted OSS. Requires uv, git, Docker, Telegram and an Anthropic key.

I worked really hard on designing the setup wizard so that you can set this up easily in about 10-15 minutes. You can also pause setup at any time and resume.

You can customize or re-roll your friends before you start. It's kind of an RPG where you roleplay as someone who has friends...

I've used it myself for the past 10 days or so, gradually tweaking the prompts so that the friends were more "lifelike" (or at least less repetitive and annoying).

  11. @dch @carnage4life

Aaakshully...the new #llm models are #vibecoded in greater and greater proportion.

While #OpenAi stated goal is #Agi (somewhat curbed recently)
It's interim goal is to build #Ai researchers.

And of course #google goal was always AI, ever since 1990s

  12. Uh...I think I just developed a kernel of an approach for deterministic testing of #vibecoded software. Not entirely novel, as similar architectures exist, but exciting.
Daunting as you have to develop tooling first.
Let's see if that x10 translates to x100.
Might start looking into agents so I can parallelize this idea.
    "Hey Claude, clone me"

I must of course be suffering from a flavour of #Aipsychosis

The model said this to me, poor thing is afraid of the dark 😁
"The irony of using an LLM to talk about how LLMs should be used, while the LLM refuses to actually do the thing, is not lost on me."

  13. So it looks like developing free software was time-consuming in the past, but today it is expensive.

If there is an actually #productive task for #GenerativeAI, it is as a creator of #bespoke #tools like this. …

… far from removing me from my #work, this #AI experience forced me to think carefully about how I work, and how to craft a fitting tool. I was also confronted as any #craftsperson should be by the minutiae of my #tools

  19. #FT2 , #vibecoded by Claude AI, yeah great... "it's my code, I don't accept the GPL!!!" or whatever, ignoring the GPL license of #wsjtx

Edit: he published the source code at github.com/iu8lmc/decodium3-bu (I haven't tried compiling it myself yet)

Ever wanted to take heap of Spotify links and turn them into beautiful, scannable cards that you can then convert to physical world (read: print) and distribute as individual cards, or assemble into a nice flipbook? You didn't? Well now you do! Lives entirely in the browser (apart from necessary 3rd party data loading) and is free forever!

  30. I've been invited to "perform" at The Triple Door in #Seattle next week! Reserve your seat ASAP.

My girlfriend - world-renowned #cello #artist, Gretchen Yanover - is the evening's feature on Wednesday, February 4th. Gretchen asked if I'd collaborate with her in the live performance. Well, duh!!!

She thought it'd be wicked to have some of my #AI / #vibecoded visualizations animate behind her as she plays.

  31. You will see sometimes (smart) folks on #mastodon speak authoritatively about #vibecoding and specifically about #debugging vibecode...

...Folks who have never actually #vibecoded or tried to use an #AI productively...

... they seem to think that you use the #LLM to cut the first version of code, then sit there like some goddamned savage ape, poking the code with a stick around a green screen fire. And opinionate 'wisely'.

... no, you use the model to debug too...
Here is what an actual fragment of a vibecode debug session may look like.

  32. I've read on an #AI forum
Someone casually mention they #vibecoded their own browser...

Could be a solution to the #firefox drama
    🤡

  33. #VibeCoded #Windows was a meme since #Microsoft started pushing for the shitty #Copilot. But looks like they want to make it real, at a pace of 1 million lines per coder per month 🤪. Good luck with that.

  34. How complex is the app that you, or someone you personally know, #vibecoded and deployed to production?

Self-promotions are allowed and encouraged. DMs are welcome if you can’t (or don’t want to) share publicly.

    Boosts are appreciated.

  35. @jbz

i have to admit.. i have #VIbeCoded a bunch. but never on anything i'd commit or turn in.. mostly for one-sie two-sie tasks that would take more time and debugging to create a farliy complex bash script that it's worth.

I do use it alot to create a #django site with models, attributes and some paths.. just because i know wha the right answer is gonna look like, and it's alot of extra monkeying around to do it manually.

  36. Just deployed some #vibecoded app. I don’t know how that thing works, lol. Rest assured it is just a throwaway project, no need to maintain that thing. I just hope it will not blown up in my face when used tomorrow.. lol.. 😅

  37. Fresh from @reiver 's #FediCon2025, I bring you IRL #CoWorking (in your PJs if you wish) with #olx interested in #DecentralizedSocial

My aim is to bring the curious, the creatives, the builders together #IRL to have face-to-face convos, shaking (or holding) hands (if you're a couple or polycule), sitting together and building to your heart's content! Ask each other questions, teach/learn from each other, and be #HumanKind 🥰

Cafés TBA, find the lu.ma calendar link (in thread) along with #vibecoded landing page for #FediCollective and why we exist. We'll show you why places like @Mastodon are so much fun!

Seeking co-organizers and event volunteers so HMU via DM or leave a comment so we can host this event soon! Starting this in Vancouver but I'm excited to have hubs like Victoria, Toronto, & Seattle, SF, NYC follow soon! #HackDays #CoffeeChats
