I spent a lot of time trying to recover some archive CD. The problem: OS X recognises de format, but cannot handle the images, I have a Basilisk2 with system 7 which does not recognise the CD. The CD contains a tool to handle the images, which OS X cannot run. #retrocomputing #classicmac #Diskimage

Dank einer freundlichen Spende konnte ich heute nun endlich die offizielle, deutschsprachige Demo-Diskette von Windows 95 im Internet Archive hochladen und teilen. Diese Demo lag damals einem 10er Pack Verbatim Leer-Disketten bei und sollte für das neue 32-Bit Windows werben. Eine ziemliche Rarität im Jahre 2026!

Dumping a few fresh floppy disks in DMF format using my trusty, old KryoFlux. 80 cylinders of 21 sectors each gives them a capacity of 1.68MB. This format was mostly used for software distribution by Microsoft.

Some time ago, I was asked to share notes and details of how I archived my old CDROM media and I did reply in the thread, but never really posted the guide I wrote otherwise.
So here is the crappiest guide to dumping CD/DVD images on Linux/Unix-likes, in case it happens to be of use to anyone.

* Extract individual files from a Clonezilla archive, without extracting the full archive.📜 https://github.com/fiddyschmitt/clonezilla-util
(Unfortunately, it does not work with (#Bitlocker) encrypted images. And cache generation sure does take a while!)

dim14a.zip requires 286.
fakedisk.zip hangs on #Tandy1000
fdrv-3.zip requires 286, wants 386.
img1_21e.zip hangs on Tandy 1000dcfr still looks like the best hope. im hoping to try it on the #Book8088 mañana.

OK I'm not declaring full victory yet, but....
dcfr004.zip runs on the #Tandy1000 and successfully extracted the files from the Twin disk images.
We may have a winner!
