Can't remember if I ever beat this as a kid, but listening to the #DosGames Club podcast inspired me to whip out the #DosBox again and explore some of my old favs.

Monuments Of Mars (1991) was such a unique game in my childhood collection with its orange and green colour scheme and it's one-screen puzzles.

Bunch of kinda criticisms of Wolf 3D in this piece here, but also some interesting insights on playing one handed by using the mouse with sensitivity turned up fully (and of course using a map). I'm so used to keyboard, but thinking now, when I played it on a Mac in the 90s, I may have messed with using a mouse for it some.

Just Finished "Lands of Lore - Throne of Chaos".
Wow! Now I understand why it is such a beloved game. It's somehow a classic dungeon crawler like DM or EotB but in storytelling it wants to be much more. It's on the brink of a new generation of 3D-RPGs.

Visually it is peak pixelart and the music is really great. It's one of Frank Klepacki's pre-C&C-works but you can recognize his later works. Strong C&C-vibes.

Das in Deutschland entwickelte "Extreme Assault" war eines der coolsten 3D-Actionspiele des Jahres 1997 und gleichzeitig eines der letzten Spiele, die damals noch für MS-DOS erschienen sind.

Die Handbücher hatte ich ja schon vor einer Weile gescannt und im Internet Archive hochgeladen, jetzt gibt es auch die CD-ROMs in deutscher und englischer Sprache. Inklusive sämtliche Updates und NoCD-Cracks.

Das hatte in meiner Retro-Sammlung noch gefehlt: Hab heute die beiden Disketten der deutschen "Defender of the Empire" Erweiterung für das Star Wars Spiel "TIE Fighter" bekommen.
