Ab wann wäre eine NAS für's Backup zweier Laptops (1x Arbeit und 1x Privat) geboten? Andersrum: wie lange ist die Backup-Lösung mit einfachen externen Festplatten ausreichend?
Wie haltet ihr es damit?
Ich frage, weil mir der Ressourcen- und Stromverbrauch für #NAS für so eine "kleine" Problematik ungerechtfertigt hoch erscheint.

@LubuntuOfficial light iso -> USB -> install it on that partition -> fast boot and cool os 👍😎
Resorted to Android #tethering #USB till I could add the #WiFi Broadcom #driver. -

@phpmacher Andere verschrotten in so einer Situation den PC und kaufen neu (Behörden *räusper*).
Für alle anderen, die gerne rumprobieren, gäbe es da noch Netboot.xyz (https://netboot.xyz/). Einfach alle möglichen Linux Distros, nahezu blitzschnell, aus dem Netzwerk booten (PXE). Mit Anleitung sogar Windows. Benutze ich recht häufig auch für RAM Analysen oder Secure Erase Zeug. Da gibts eigentlich alles, was man sich so vorstellen kann: DBan, Arch Linux, CentOS, clonezilla, FreeBSD, GParted, Kali, Proxmox, Rescuezilla, ShredOS, ... uvm.

What I did today was simple I went on the clonezilla site, checked the alternative download servers then went to one of the FTP servers, listed over there.
wget worked flawlessly, of course

Regretfully, when I attempted the download of clonezilla again, the browser also got a time-out at the 420MB mark, bringing my total waste of bandwidth to a whopping 50% of my monthly allotted 2GB **

I am fascinated to learn what is going wrong though, because I've never had these problems with sourceforge. I downloaded programs from there for decades. When I have some bandwidth again I will use another mirror, this is probably a mirror-induced error

So far so good :steamdeck: #fingerscrossed only my photo taking skills suck 😆
Currently this setup is running from a #ugreen branded #usb3 PD pass-through hub, which I got for #macbook back then, and a nvme enclosure for the new ssd. I'm also using #ventoy + #clonezilla as a disk cloning OS. ıt benefits from #partclone .
People have been running the #dd command directly through #SteamDeck #steamOS desktop mode while it's running, which I'd rather not.
