Sodele, dann mal back zu meinen IT Anfängen. Einmal ein altes Notebook mit #clonezilla sichern. Danach Windows 10 auf 11 aktualisieren. Sofern ich das mit ein bisl Gefusche auf der alten Kiste hinbekomme. Ansonsten gibts n Linux mit einfacher Oberfläche. Irgendwas, womit mein Dad klarkommt. Wobei, ganz ehrlich, mit nem KDE kommt der bestimmt zurecht.

I boot from USB and replace the preinstalled Windows 11 (never even started) with my Debian 13 golden image, using Clonezilla.
As of today, the setup is based on Debian 13, but I’m already working on a variant based on FreeBSD and jails.

Right now I am making an image of an older HP PC with a SATA drive. I'll be transferring to a newer computer with an nVME storage drive, then upgrading the operating system.
Pictures is the CloneZilla screen showing that image being created. I store it on an external SSD, then will apply that image to the storage in the replacement computer.
The replacement computer will have significantly faster processor, storage and double the memory (RAM).
CloneZilla is a great tool. Super useful. It is also built on top of Linux (Debian and Ubuntu variants).
