So... most gnome apps are failing to open on my debian sid daily driver. So... pgadmin4 won't open to remotely edit my company database. So... I have learned how to add a column to a table in my remote database using psql locally. Yup, I'm a hacker.

Seit ein paar Tagen läuft #pikaos auf meinem #xps9305
Inzwischen habe ich meine eigenen Shortcuts eingerichtet und meine eigenen Wallpapers hinterlegt.

Das System gefällt mir soweit ganz gut. Vor allem #quickshell ist Bombe! Hoffentlich ist dies bei #opensuse auch bald verfügbar.

Mal gespannt wie stabil #debiansid ist..

#pikaos auf meinem #xps9305 installiert. Soweit ich das sehe ist pikaos die einzige Distribution, die ein #niri Image anbietet.
Die Installation war etwas anstrengend, da der Installer encryption + #BTRFSSnapshots nicht unterstützt.
Letztendlich ist es auf eine btrfs-Rootpartition und eine verschlüsselte ext4-home-Partition hinausgelaufen. Immerhin. Snapshots waren mir auf jeden Fall wichtig, da ich #debiansid nicht ganz vertraue und ich der Meinung bin, daß jede Rolling Release Distribution snapshots out of the box mitbringen sollte.
Optisch ist pikaos sehr ansprechend. Vor allem #quickshell sieht toll aus!
Es gibt eine Art Willkommens-Menü für das erste Update. Es bietet die Möglichkeit Codec-Unterstützung zu installieren. Wieso bekommt #opensuse sowas nicht hin?!

Installing pihole 6 on Debian Sid:

You _may_ encounter a "dependency unmet error".

To fix - manually install "bind9-dnsutils" and "lshw", then edit basic-install.sh and find the creation of the debian-meta.deb package. Modify the dependency to look for bind9-dnsutils instead of just dnsutils.

Then - run the base-install.sh.

#TIL about #lsix (https://github.com/hackerb9/lsix) and calling #xterm with the option "-ti vt340" to be able to display inline images inside an xterm—thanks to lsix having just arrived in #DebianUnstable: https://packages.debian.org/sid/lsix

These inline images (or the backend used to display them) seem to be called #sixel graphics. And they're said to work transparently through SSH. Maybe better than #chafa or #catimg.

#Fedora, #OpenSuse, #VoidLinux oppure boooh.
Nel frattempo sono quasi tre mesi che sto provando #DebianSid e ancora nessun problema.

Ormai sono praticamente due mesi che uso #DebianSid e non ho ancora riscontrato alcun problema, certo il mio utilizzo è solo a scopo sperimentale e quasi spero in qualche intoppo per imparare qualcosa.
Le uniche accortezze che sto usando sono il pacchettoapt-list-bugse timeshift-autosnap-apt che ho installato da #GitHub https://github.com/wmutschl/timeshift-autosnap-apt.
Certo una distro che riceve aggiornamenti ogni sei ore potrebbe mettere un pò d'ansia 🤷‍♂️

Buongiorno #Fedivero, su un pc secondario, da circa un mese e mezzo, ho installato #DebianSid (tanto per smanettarci un pò).
Come sarebbe meglio aggiornare il sistema?
Con apt, aptitude o synaptic?
Faccio questa domanda perché ho letto che aptitude utilizza un migliore algoritmo per la risoluzione delle dipendenze.

Anyone has an idea why for a few weeks, the #ComposeKey under #X11 on #Debian Unstable (set via "setxkbmap -option compose:menu -option compose:rwin -option compose:rctrl -option compose:ralt") suddenly only works if I release it before pressing the first key of the wanted key combo?

If you see e.g. a "a instead of an ä from me, it's because I was used to already press " before I released the Compose Key. Very annoying and happens far too often. 🤬
