Once upon a time and in OO gauge carriages were individual and could be assembled randomly.

Now I think the full sized ones are made as trains. A longer trainset could be made, but not just shunted together.

Very fast trains are (often?) more explicitly thus I've been told, the junction of the carriages sitting on a single bogie, rather than each carriage having two.

@skyfaller i was at many if not most of the #Occupy Oakland general assemblies
I know a lot of the inspiration came from the #APPO, "popular assembly of the peoples of Oaxaca", which was the principal organizing body during the Oaxaca revolt of 2006, which saw police and politicians totaly removed from the territory, radio and television stations siezed and an intricate system of barricades to defend it all. Its worth learning about if you havent already.
The practice of self-management via community assemblies is super old and hundreds, possibly thousands, of communities in Mexico continue to use simular means to manage their societies, as well as trade unions like the cnte.
