I just finished printing another panel for my #multiboard workbench overhaul. It's super-quiet in my office, so after it finished printing, the print bed is cooling.
It's... very quietly crackling and settling as it cools and separates from t build plate.
It's like sitting next to a cozy fire.

Well, here’s another app I am removing from all my devices. “Termius” seemed like a very good ssh client for iOS devices. Had lots of good features, was relatively stable.
But their licensing is batshit. $10/mo for a HOBBIEST license. Forever. Never ending. For a fucking terminal program.
Eat shit guys. The company I work for has a staggeringly complex pair of programs that are the top tools in the industry, and they license THOSE for $10/mo.

Saw this weird pricing setup at Wegmans the other night. Like, I get that people have to make a buck. But 50% more for buying only 6 cans rather than 12? That's... cmon guys.

Okay, I need to find whoever decided that bolts for this trailer's hitch plate should have a 16mm head, and a 17mm NUT on the bottom (you know, ehre it's hard to see). Took me 15 minutes to realize the sizes were different. Fortunately, got everything loose, but sheesh Harbor Freight Or Whomever, that was irritating.
-
Well dang. Project today was to swap out the hitch on the old trailer and put a new plate on. YYyyyeah, that's not going to happen. That upper plate is compeltely shot. Ordered a new one from harborfreight. $16. Can't complain too much.

Made coffee cake for the first time! Delicious.

Cleaning out the office a bit today. Came across these oldies lying on the back shelf. This was pretty hot stuff 6-ish years ago, now they're retro tech. I'm still proud I built and flew them, but the tech and industry has definitely moved along.

Upping my baking game a bit. Learning how to prepare Choux dough for pastries, and now (second try) made a set of eclaires for our holiday bake-off. The piping bag I have has a too-small tip on it, so these are thinner than they shoudl be, but they came out great, and everyone loved them.

Ski season. Stratton mountain. And so it behind.
A bit foggy but good surface. About half the trails open making navhation a little tricky.

Adventures in #solaridiy
I modified my MagicMirror display (it's not a mirror, just a stats screen that I have at my desk - shows all sorts of info) to watch MQTT for statistics from my solar controller. This worked great, and now I have realtime data from my panels and battery out in the shed.

Today's #homeautomation task. I was weak. I gave up. I'm a terrible #maker - I bought pre-loaded LED controllers that already have #tasmota loaded.
My friends circles say this is fine, there's better ways to spend your time. But I feel like I'm selling out.
If I didn't mine the silicon myself and forge it with a hammer made from a meteorite into an IC, I'm just #faking it.
-
Cautionary note, kids. When using #castiron #pans for #cooking - remember that your seasoning isn't permanent. Metal spatulas can and will scrape it off if you're aggressive enough.
I don't know which member of our household did this (could have been me for all I remember), but we will be having a re-seasoning party shortly.
-
@memory Or, you know, they could do the right thing and actually productize GCP/GCE in a way that made it not feel like some college kids weekend long bender project - and fix bugs, tighten up documentation, instrument it properly, and, you know, make it a real toolset that's attractive, stable, consistent, and useful.
HAHAHAHHAHA WHO AM I KIDDING. This is google. If it ain't Search, it's not a real product.

After 6 months hiatus, I picked up my #ovation #guitar and played for a while (ow my fingers) - Inspiration was some Tragically Hip that came up on #radioparadise.
I've never been 100% sure when it was made, though. According to the various websites that track serial numbers, this guitar (012160) was made in 1973, which would make it (EEK!) 50 years old! But the sites tend to be a little squirrely about dates then.
Any ideas? I do love how it sounds.

Special thanks to Dave at LSSM - He has a KDJ11-B mainboard for my PDP 11/73! We're making arrangements to get it here soon, at which point Project Barn Find PDP 11 will (hopefully!) come to life!

@[email protected] you are a terrible human being and you should feel bad.
I absolutely have a weakness for '80s hatchbacks like the #scirocco and slightly later the #Isuzu impulse. Both cars I've had, and they were the best of the reborn affordable #sportscars? They're hard to classify.
I absolutely do not need another project, but should you ever trip over an Impulse, and your feeling particularly evil, drop me a message.

Just had an absolutely dreadful support experience with #godaddy - Why are these bozos still the top registrar?
#namecheap is such a better experience and they seem to actually know what they're doing.
It took me almost 40 minutes to answer a simple question, with half a dozen pitfall forks in the conversation, including them asking me to 'try again in an incognito window'
Dude, I'm asking how to do something.

@PsychoSanta OH, it's ON. #jeep #bringit
This. Is cool.

Here's my #throwbackthursday contribution. This was my bedroom in 1988.
The large rack contained my #pdp11 34, with an RL02 drive under it. In the corner is an ATT #3b1 (aka #unixpc), with an old #mac next to it.
The thing I really miss is the #dec #gigi terminal in the middle. Very hard to find now. It was a graphics #vt100 compatible terminal.
The PDP11 ran #rsts. There's 2 more racks full of hardware for it off to the left. Was like being next to jetliner when it was running.

"Hey Dave, I have these things lying around. You want 'em?"
"Oh fine, sure, I guess so" (glee, chortle, smirk)
(This is a 3870 and a 3760 and a sort of prototype camera dock)

Sometime, not too long ago, someone at Microsoft had this conversation with Lennart Poettering ...
"you seem like someone that fits our 'fuck everyone we'll do what we want' culture. How'd you like a job with us?"
