First #EV charging experience at an #IONNA station yesterday, and it was *vastly* superior to others I’ve tried (#EVgo, #ElectrifyAmerica).
First, no account and no app required. Tap to pay just worked, which, I know, seems obvious, but EV owners recognize that as a minor miracle. It was as simple as fueling at a gas station — simpler, actually, as I didn’t even have to enter my ZIP Code, and the machine didn’t beep at me once!
Second, charging started immediately and was super fast. Superior to the others.
Third, it was cheap! 39 cents/kWh. Other fast chargers in my area are ~60 cents/kWh. Some also have 99-cent “session fees.” (I recognize pricing can change; I assume they are starting off low to encourage new customers like me, and will increase later. 🤷♂️)
Fourth, the interface and brand elements were great. Everything worked together. What a concept! There are even optional charts with charging curves for the full nerdy level of detail. 🤓
I wish IONNA success! More across #California please!

The new #ElectrifyAmerica EV chargers at the Emeryville IKEA are very nice. 10 units (I think the most of any EA in the East Bay) all 350kW and far from the door so they aren’t blocked with gas cars. Currently me, a Lucid Air, an Ioniq 6, and a a Mustang Mach-E.
-
Five charging stops, one food stop and 782 miles later, we’re home! Cost about $130 in electricity.
Good news is that EA’s chargers were all working today (though the first post we used at Panoche was slower than it should have been, and we moved when one of the others opened up).
Only a couple of lines today too, and only short waits despite some inconsiderate chargers
-
Really annoying when people are sitting here well past 80%. Trying to charge to 100% when there is a line waiting is really inconsiderate. #ElectrifyAmerica should really implement the penalty fees they talked about.

Electrify America at Plymouth … one charger is down shown in the app… and one more shows available but actually down (won’t activate) and the 350kw that I waited 10 mins for is reduced to about 170kw
I’m glad my car tells me the charging power is limited by the charging station……

I have a Level 2 charger my #ID4Pro #EV at home. I also have a #ChargePoint #EVGo & an #ElectrifyAmerica account.
However, I believe in #BeingPreprared. So, I bought a #J1772 to #NACS #Tesla adapter but I'd only use a Tesla #Supercharger (or destination charger) as a last resort (because I have issues with #Musk ) & haven't even downloaded the Tesla charging app yet, so I can't even use a Tesla charger yet but . . .
Here's an interesting article to those who are interested in #EVs published by #ConsumerReports about their experience charging certain non-Tesla EVs at #Tesla #Superchargers with a J1772 to NACS (Tesla) adapter or with Tesla's #MagicDock . . .

The only one available charger at the Hyannis Electrify America station is a 150kw. However having 800V battery pack means my car can pull more than that from this one. It stayed 180-190kw all the way to about 75% SoC. I’m very pleased.
The car was like “No it’s not my fault to only charge at 180kw when the battery got nice and toasty on the way to the charger. Blame the charger.”

How bad can this go wrong with such halfassery in this realm
Also the charger is very slow in software

We just completed a Seattle to Newport, Oregon RT in our #Bolt EV. ~1,000km or 640 miles.
We've had this vehicle for 6 years. Having now done the same trip several times I'm pleased to observe how #ElectrifyAmerica has evolved, collected its wits and made the experience satisfyingly routine and predictable.
Bolt's range is shy of what's needed to arrive with contingency kWh. 30 minute midway top-up is perfect for leg-stretching.
Charging Plan A and B still good to have, but way less.

@seanbala My feeling at first was, at least they are trying, but quickly went cynical because their chargers seem to have a lot of trouble and I have to wonder if it's intentional.
Also could be part of a settlement like #VW cars and their #electrifyamerica chargers.

The #ElectrifyAmerica newbie #EV charging experience:
Drive past Mach E motioning me forward. Realize much later he’s in an informal, unmarked waiting spot, and I cut in line (didn’t delay him, keep reading).

Looks like it's a go! Wife and I are heading to Middlebury VT tomorrow for some #eclipse viewing. It's also going to be the furthest I've driven the #EV6, which should add to the challenge. Luckily, there is an #ElectrifyAmerica Type 3 charger about an hour outside of Middlebury, which should work out great.
