I went down to the shoreline yesterday with my two dogs. Breezy, beautiful, sunshiny day! Today is, too. Photos include my weather apparatuses. Every morning at 8:00 AM, I check my rain gauge and submit the measurement to www.cocorahs.org. My rooftop weather station is an Ambient Weather WS-4000 Solar Powered UltraSonic Wi-Fi Weather Station. It measures quite a few parameters. #weather #wx #wxwa #PNW #science #AmbientWeather #cocorahs #PugetSound

This year I started reporting rainfall measurements in the #CoCoRaHS volunteer weather observation system.
And every single time, I can't help but sing: 𝅘𝅥𝅮 Co co rahs, rahs done by you 𝅘𝅥𝅮

are you in the U.S. and interested in contributing rainfall (or even snowfall) measurements to be used by the National Weather Service?

@NWSAtlanta: @LakesFirearmsTr I recommend taking a look at the CoCoRaHS program (). They use a standard 4" gauge widely used by several organizations including the NWS! If your measurements don't match those on the news, it may be due to a lack of measurements in your area. #CoCoRaHS https://twitter.com/NWSAtlanta/status/1826802081698808118

Checked the rain gauge this morning as I usually do. Last night's turmoil gave us 0.97" of rain. Great for the landscape. I expect slugs will come out in force. #nerdalert #wawx #SnohomishCounty #rainfall #CoCoRaHS

This year (2024) is right in the middle between a wet one (2022) and a dry one (2023), as measured at my back door. https://dex.cocorahs.org/stations/CAN-MB-361 #MBweather #cocorahs

@croyle aww, thank you, and yup, it has to be at least 2 feet off the ground as long as it is away from structures and overhangs/trees
It's a special one for CoCoRaHS, that's why it looks "fancy". This is the "Tropo" rain gauge.

updated my #CoCoRaHS gauge location today 🙂
some plants were getting too close for comfort
I emailed to see if I needed to update the location, and they said as long as I don't live on a farm or a multi-acre property, then my existing location is accurate enough

Any one else on here participate in #CoCoRaHS ?
It's a program where you use a special rain gauge to report precipitation levels to the National Weather Service here in the US

Overly excited about the new data visualizations from CoCoRaHS. My home location has 7 years of precipitation data that can finally be explored. #CoCoRaHS

With calmer #weather in the #Northland today, it's given me the chance to dive deeper into this recent #rain #storm that came through the past several days.
The images attached are just some of the #rainfall totals we saw in our area; collected by #volunteers part of the #CoCoRaHS program.
More analysis on this event later this week, but for now the full list of totals is in the post attached: https://www.facebook.com/WeathermanRustyMehlberg/posts/pfbid02Fn66BPWBwHnEEEfthwDKJvHt36nkb4K8myRDpCfAhahR3vQacidSdNaNgdxaxunRl

Highly variable rainfall in #RochMN yesterday #rain #thunderstorms #cocorahs #minnesota

.10” of rain yesterday in Lawrence, KS. This puts us pretty close to the 30 year average for the year. It helped that we got just over 2” the other night in the big storm.

The NWS released their June data and the #RochMN Airport had their 6th driest June. But #CoCoRaHS gages in town were much drier. Most have only had 0.5-0.65" since mid May! Extremely dry out there. Realistically, I would say it's quite possibly been the driest June in the last 130 years for Rochester. #drought

Thunderstorms in Pasadena cancelling concerts. Floodwatches in the high desert. Here in Silver Lake, dang if the clouds above this morning didn't dribble out a measurable amount of rain to the tune of two-hundies by gauge check bringing us within a 10th of 32 inches for the season.
#CoCoRaHS
☔️ Running Total: 31.88"

Here’s the view from the rain gauge, which I check every morning for a citizen-science project. We planted this dogwood about fifteen years ago. It’s native here, so it supports birds, pollinators, and other wildlife as well as being gorgeous. #goodMorning #gardening #CoCoRaHS #nativePlants
