I went down to the shoreline yesterday with my two dogs. Breezy, beautiful, sunshiny day! Today is, too. Photos include my weather apparatuses. Every morning at 8:00 AM, I check my rain gauge and submit the measurement to www.cocorahs.org. My rooftop weather station is an Ambient Weather WS-4000 Solar Powered UltraSonic Wi-Fi Weather Station. My new weather station is setup and online. This new unit is the Ambient Weather WS-4000 Solar Powered UltraSonic Wi-Fi Weather Station. It replaces an Ambient Weather WS-2902 Home Wi-Fi Weather Station, which we had going for about 10 years. The old unit seemed to be getting clunky, disconnecting more often with the console. So far, the WS-4000 seems to be working fine. Setup was relatively easy. We'll see how it works in the long run. #geekalert #wawx #wx #weather #AmbientWeather

I made a thing!
As part of my ongoing air-exchange-based #HVAC project, I have an outdoor air quality sensor from #AmbientWeather (no sponsorship, I bought it). It's battery/solar powered, and that's fine... except for the part where that doesn't work here in the winter.
But since it plugs in to charge and keeps working when plugged in, winner winner chicken dinner, right?
NO! Because first you have to take the bottom off the case, then the charge plug sticks directly out from the bottom facing down, like a goddamn Apple Magic Mouse.
I can't fix the mouse, but I can fix _this_, and I have made a printable tray and rack system to let you use it that way. Enjoy!

Thinking more about weather sensors, which can also be thought of as cheap ($0-$20) 433.92 MHz low power battery operated beacons.
If I pick the sensor right, and if it's cheap / small / interesting enough, it could go into my backpack as an every day carry, and then if the backpack ever went astray there would a transmitter in it to help find it.
My #FlipperZero did decode a random #AmbientWeather #F007TH while I was on my bicycle, listening, so I have some proof it could work.
