Good morning from Minneapolis and Minnesota, the North Star state, the Blue Oasis of Hinterlandia, the land of loons.
Quite early Saturday morning it's 72℉/22℃; overcast; light winds; visibility 10 miles at the airport.
Northwest flow continues all next week. Ripples embedded within the flow could bring chances for thunderstorms at any point, but these are not predictable at this range. Temperatures will remain very warm with several days in the low 90s expected.
— Area Forecast Discussion, NWS ChanhassenI haven't watched broadcast television in a long, long time—as one doesn't—but was subjected to it last night when I met some friends in a neighborhood bar.
The evening news slot was wall-to-wall political ads for next month's state primary election, calling to mind that old quotation attributed to Gore Vidal,
"Half of the American people have never read a newspaper. Half never voted for President. One hopes it is the same half."
