Yesterday my Droplet smart water monitoring device notified me that it noticed an unusually water flow. After checking around, somebody (me) left a tap slightly running. This saved me from a larger than usual water bill. Love this device. Works great and integrates with #HomeAssistant .

Man… #Tapo is just shit and #TPLink just makes crappy hardware and software.

You see… Yet again, their Smart Wifi Plug, which is #Matter over #WiFi, started reporting insane power numbers on a pretty weak Dyson vacuum charger…

To a point it has dominated all the energy graphs in #HomeAssistant… It is also for some unknown reason reseting it self and dropping old entities, while creating new entities in the same HA device.

Replaced it with Matter over #Thread #Ikea #GRILLPLATS…

@rusty The Matter integration for #homeassistant is working fine for me right now, although some devices (Leviton especially) are not as reliable as Zigbee. I have 49 devices connected.

Impatiently awaiting the day that #HomeAssistant doesn't require a third party border router for connecting Matter based devices to the platform. I mean Google and Amazon have figured out how to do it. I'm not interested in addign a Google Hub, or Amazon Alexa device to my network.

I’ve released a new #HomeAssistant custom integration for basic plant monitoring, after getting fed up with the official one being stagnant for years and others being overly complex.

Concentrating on moisture it allows you to set thresholds through the UI to control a problem sensor and automatically detect watering, so you know when you last watered.
You can also do summary notifications of what needs attention via an action, a simple example automation in the readme.

I wanted to go to IKEA next week to buy some smart bulbs (and some other stuff, candles mostly) for the remainder of my lamps which don’t have them yet. Unfortunately they are all Matter/Thread only now and the ones I have already were Zigbee (like the rest of nearly all my smartphone devices) and my ZBT-1 (my Zigbee router for Home Assistant) can’t be used for both at the same time, only for either Zigbee or Matter/Thread.

I guess I will buy the new ZBT-2 to run that as my Matter/Thread router and keep the old one for Zigbee to have backwards compatibility. And I will also slowly migrate to Matter? I don’t know. I don’t like having so many different technologies. At least now they seem to have compromised on a standard and are keeping that (hopefully).

My new #HomeAssistant automation just turned the heat pump on now that the bedroom temperature has fallen below 18°C. I can go to bed relieved (and warm!) knowing it worked, thanks to my NZ$20 #ESPHome @seeedstudio XIAO IR remote.

Urlaubsprojekt - Homeassistant auf intel nuc in Betrieb genommen, alle IoT / homeautomation Geräte zugefügt. Hatte ich mir schwieriger vorgestellt 😅 dachte, ich wäre ein paar Tage beschäftigt, jetzt ist mir wieder langweilig 😂 Aber es gibt noch viel auszuprobieren, das Hauptziel ist aber erreicht, alle relevanten Geräte/Sensoren verschiedener Hersteller in einer view.

Der Imagingprozess für den bootable USB Stick hat mir gefallen, kannte ich so noch gar nicht.
