Ok, i hate to admit it but this whole "smart" lock and tying into #HomeAssistant has made things lots of fun with doing "computer" things again. Hope this lasts a bit :)

For those of you using #homeassistant, I have noticed that as my sensor and entity list grows, the web front ends on lower end systems like raspberry pi’s have gotten so much slower. And at times become unusable. I worked around this by vibe coding custom dashboards in python and having them connect to #homeassistant directly. Apparently the reason it gets so much slower is that the dashboards in HA receive ALL available entity data, even if they don’t do anything with it. Sucking up memory. As a software professional myself that really seems like a design flaw. Why not a subscription model for the page with only the entity values the page needs???

Question for the Homeautomation bubble: I currently have a number of smart plugs with power meters running Tasmota (mostly Nous A1T and Gosund SP111), which communicate with my HomeAssistant via MQTT.

Is there an easy way to convert these to ESPHome, ideally over the air? This would simplify my stack and the management of these individual devices.

@OpenSoul uso con soddisfazione dispositivi #Shelly da circa 5y su #homeassistant.
Soprattutto le ultime versioni di prodotto degli ultimi anni sono molto migliorate e stabili.
Mi sono stupito della durata: immaginavo che un relè wifi da meno di 10 euro non sarebbe durato per tanti anni... invece.
Ovvio che gli shelly1 v1 di 5y fa non hanno più firmware manutenuto ma con qualche accorgimento (bluetooth off e uso su vlan dedicata / blindata) continuo a usarli senza troppi pensieri.
