@jz If you use something like nomadnet's pages over wifi it works perfectly and there is no problem. But if suddenly wifi goes offline and users try to transmit their pages and voice-messages over #lora they will immediately flood the band and no other users, also much better suited #meshcore messages will no longer go through.

#Reticulum does not scale its traffic needs depending on the transport layer. Instead it will use what it can get and ruin the band for all others.

#Reticulum is still super interesting and powerful but using it over #lora is still a very niche use case that will often does more harm then good!

Got my #meshcore companion up and running yesterday. Still haven’t fully figured out how I can reach people (except all the polish peeps spamming the public channel).

Kaum geht mal ein paar Meter nach oben, ploppen die Repeater auf wie die Maulwürfe. Von Mönchengladbach bis hinter Dortmund und nach Süden bis in die Eifel bin ich gekommen.

Nächsten Monat wird hier ein Repeater montiert, damit der Bumms mal ein bisschen besser abgedeckt ist.

A little annoyed that my #meshcore setup is deaf as stone after updating my repeater and companion - and especially after using the new settings for Holland. I have a feeling "the switch" as they call it, to improve network performance, hasn't done coverage and uniformity any good. Or maybe I'm just missing something here.

@cassey I think I'm about an hour away from where you used to be if we're talking about the same Lincoln! 😅 I've heard about #meshcore but I haven't dipped my toes into it just yet. I've seen a handful of meshtastic nodes pop up driving around here and Lincoln.

I'll give this a whirl for a few more weeks and then migrate one of two over and see what happens!

I exchanged a few messages with @trilobyte over #MeshCore and this is the path MC discovered and set up to deliver my messages. 15 hops, hundreds of km and the delivery was reliable. It doesn't stop to amaze me what low-cost hardware connected in a community mesh can do.
