A while back, I was mostly-lurking on a regional #Meshcore (like #Meshtastic , but different) discord, when someone on there tried to update a repeater and accidentally soft-bricked it. They needed to climb up to where it is to get a physical connection. But there's a raven nesting near where they've propped up the device, so they're lamenting the chore of climbing up to it.
I replied “Nevercore.”
It barely got a reaction. I am sad for this community. (-;

I did a post about a week back when I started investigating a possible migration from Meshtastic radio to MeshCore radio network. I won't repeat that post here, but I'll mention two issues that often came up about MeshCore, and why this is just no longer true.

I live near 2 lora repeaters but have no direct line of sight. I can find good reflections on building, getting signal in -3dB range via a small yagi.
The aiming of the beam is rather difficult due to intermittent ping or trace path in the app. Probably the repeaters have reception of stronger signals at those moments of failure.
What would be a good easy practice to find optimal beam direction?

I have no idea of these things, the only thing I know is I need to do something about it while I can. And if it's repurposing already available tech and with the lowest energy consumption possible, much better #permacomputing #solarpunk

#Meshtastic ist irgendwie kaputt, Webflasher kaputt und auch der Download. Technisch eh nicht so toll.
Ich bin mit drei Geräten zu #Meshcore gewechselt. Ein T-Beam als Repeater am Fenster und zwei Client Geräte.
Bin hier in #Düren auf rheinland.#Meshcom auch aktualisiert, App und T-Deck Design schön geworden.
Bei den beiden funktioniert der Webflasher tadellos. Und die Funktion auch gut.
Meshcore (Video2000) ist technisch das bessere Meshtastic (VHS).
