#EVgo closes a $1.25B federal #loan to build 7,500 #EV DC fast chargers
With the #DOE loan’s backing, this buildout will bring EVgo’s total owned and operated network to at least 10,000 fast-charging stalls, allowing the company to more than triple its network footprint by 2029. It currently has more than 1,000 fast charging stations across 40 states. The loan requires the deployment period to be five years, starting in 2025.

The future is not EV's for everyone. The future is degrowth with cycle and pedestrian movement within communities, free green public transport around larger communities and cities and rail between them. At best EV taxis may could play a part.

I have a Level 2 charger my #ID4Pro #EV at home. I also have a #ChargePoint #EVGo & an #ElectrifyAmerica account.
However, I believe in #BeingPreprared. So, I bought a #J1772 to #NACS #Tesla adapter but I'd only use a Tesla #Supercharger (or destination charger) as a last resort (because I have issues with #Musk ) & haven't even downloaded the Tesla charging app yet, so I can't even use a Tesla charger yet but . . .
Here's an interesting article to those who are interested in #EVs published by #ConsumerReports about their experience charging certain non-Tesla EVs at #Tesla #Superchargers with a J1772 to NACS (Tesla) adapter or with Tesla's #MagicDock . . .

This is really weird - this EVgo charging station is
- fully occupied (all CCS ports) according to EVgo app
- 2 CCS ports available according to PlugShare app……Who should I trust??? It’s hard to believe it’s all in use in the middle of night in a very rural / suburban town.

Speak up, be heard. After discovering this #EVgo station at Safeway on 7th Ave, only to eventually told the site was “decommissioned,” I raised hell after learning the site was built with public funds in 2021! After a few emails to Supervisor Chiu, SFCTA, SF Environment, and Bay Area Air Quality District, the site was recently turned back on! Now I can charge a little closer to home, and pick up groceries too if I get there before midnight. #sfba #evcharging

@benlovell @veerrrsix @quixote My sister would like to tow with an #EV & that is a bit complicated because chargers are not typically set up for a towing rig. A lot are in normal parking lots & you pull into a regular parking space. I’ve never seen a Tesla charger that wasn’t like that. I like EVgo chargers & older ones are set up similar to gas pumps where you just pull up alongside. But newer #EVgo chargers are in Walmart parking lots. Maybe truck stops?

I do not really follow automaker business financials and plans closely (not being an investor in anything), but hopefully, this joint #GM-Pilot-#EVGo #ChargingNetwork gets built as previously planned.
Such locations seem to really check a lot of boxes for consumers, perhaps uniquely so.
Safe, well-lit, good 24/7 amenities and good locations next to major highway exits.
And a consistent customer experience, possibly.

@CrackedWindscreen Truth be told, I like quite a bit of the new areas that #GM has been dipping its toes in for the past 2-4 years or so - closer to the metal on batteries/mining, closer to the metal with chips, a more ambitious charging network buildout with #EVGo.
Shoot. Even their software strategy, while I disagree with the trajectory, is undoubtedly aggressive.
But... I don't know... it all just seems incomplete somehow.
I cannot put my finger on it.
Been thinking about it a lot lately.

Something like 75% of the DC fast chargers in the Milwaukee area just disappeared in the past month. Outpost Foods is saying "Effective February 9, 2023, all EVgo provided fast-charge EV charging stations at Outpost's four retail store locations are offline. It is unclear as to when these will be operational." Is #EVgo leaving #Wisconsin all together? When I open the app, it shows absolutely nothing in Wisconsin, now.

Way to go #EVGo! That is 6 350kW stations in Jack London Sq, Oakland, and two more 100kW ones (one offline, but being worked on). This is a big upgrade and great to see more of the 350kW units coming online.

Why are all #EV charging stations except Tesla badly maintained? I have used #Chargepoint, #electrifyamerica and #evgo and anecdotally can say that there is a 50% chance at least one charger is broken.
The problem is the charger maker wants to sell hardware and the property owner just wants a checkbox in Yelp and Tripadvisor listings. Who is looking at the customer's experience? No one!
Make maintenance and uptime a requirement (else penalty!) and see how things change.

CW: EV road trip charging highway robbery...
Drove to NYC this weekend and mostly used #ElectrifyAmerica stations cos we have some free credits. 453 miles of travel, 115 kWh of pay charging.
abetterrouteplanner had us going to another EA charger that was full, so it routed us to an #EVgo charger.
Didn't realize EVgo uses Time of Use rates. We paid 63 cents a kwh when normally it's 39-42 cents. 49 kWh cost us $31. Damn near the price of gas.
Updated app to avoid EVgo stations, problem solved
