  6. @avilewis strong disagree. Its time for gas to cost twice as much and for people to realize they need to stop buying cars that use it. Purchasing gas is the problem, not the price of it. Average Canadian drives 15,200km/yr = ~1300L of gas at average 8.5L/100km. Saving $0.10/L is not exciting. Saving the whole $1.75/L is. Stop driving gas-only cars.

  12. It's truly a delight to see how many more e-bikes are roaming the streets of Seattle this summer than last year.

    Reminder: you could buy roughly 41 lovely Blix Aveny e-bikes ($1,700: 500W motor, disc brakes, front & brake lights, can handle hills) for the cost of the cheapest Rivian R1T EV. For the price of the cheapest Tesla Model 3 you can still buy 23 of them.

    Bonus: you'll actually learn to love your environment instead of sheltering from it in a luxury tank.

  15. Been weighing a concept for how to ethically transition to #renewables .
    In a logical world, we would just all use less. #Bike or ebike instead of drive if you can that sort of thing.
    We live in a world of #capitalism where supply and demand drive building of infrastructure and we NEED to #electrify everything with new renewables. So, is at this point, reducing electrical consumption, IF you have a green option for electricity, from the grid, actually going to be helpful to the planet? Would gobbling up as much green electricity to make the demand look higher cause more renewables to come online faster?

    I try and ride my #ebike. I calculated one trip is around $0.08 of electricity. My new #Nissanleaf costs around $1.20 for the same trip, $2.00 if from a commercial charger. IF my electrical source was green, should I be pushing myself to use my bike as much as possible or at this point use my car as much as possible until we reach a certain point and supply is enough that everything is now electrified that can be?

    None of my electrical supplies are 100% green so the point is moot and I should bike as much as possible, but the question is still interesting.
