I went out for lunch today - a Friday tradition - and saw something that is a pet #peeve of mine. I'm going to explain why it is bad and why you [1] should not do it.
At a #restaurant or similar establishment, DO NOT ask the #host / #server to #seat you in a section which is #closed. You may want to because it's "quieter" there, or you think you're doing everyone a favour because you won't disturb others or whatnot. But the reason it's closed is because the management doesn't anticipate enough business to keep it open, and therefore doesn't have #service #staff on to handle it.
If you end up seated there, you're making the servers have to run back and forth between that section (to check on you) and the one they're actually supposed to be serving. It creates a lot of extra work for the #server, and makes the service worse, both for you and for the customers in the open #section, because of the time they waste going back and forth.
A lot of servers/hosts are too polite to just say "no", especially with small independent businesses, so they'll seat you there, and everyone suffers. And then their #tips suffer, too, because of the degraded #service.
Don't be that #asshole. Be #seated where they put you.
