I've had my (used, 2024) Kia EV6 Wind all-wheel drive car for a little over a month, and I bought it with the understanding that its range was 282 miles.
Well.
The first thing I discovered was that an 80% charge gave me an estimated 315 mile range. Last night I charged the EV6 to 100%, and I had an "eco" (rear-wheel drive) estimated range of 407 miles and a "regular" (all wheel drive) estimated range of 395 miles!
My "Emporia" brand home level 2 charger can provide up to 48 amps of charging at 16 cents a kilowatt-hour. My EV6 has a 77.5 KW battery pack, so a zero-to-100% charge costs $12.40. I suspect an internal combustion engine car with a 400 mile range would cost $50-60 to fill these days.
I am very happy with my Earth Day purchase.

Heute war ich um die “selbst einparken”-Funktion des Kia #ev6 sehr dankbar. Gerade hingestellt und mit Fernbedienung rein geparkt. Das Parkhaus in Südfrankreich war eins der engsten, in denen ich bisher war. Zeigt auch leider gut, wie fett moderne Autos mittlerweile sind.

Back then, Kia/Hyundai were pretty much the only cars with 800V architecture and super fast charging in that budget range. Not sure how that has changed by now? Super handy on road trips to effectively go from 10% → 80% in ~15 min (coffee + restroom break) ⚡🔋 ☕

I've been researching #EV cars, and I have to say the Kia #EV6 is still top of the class for me, despite some mechanical hiccups. Looks great, charges fast, and has some amazing technology. My lease runs out in August. The #BMW iX3 looks fantastic, but for US$20,000 more? I don't think so. And the Rivian R2 is just too eclectic. I just wish there were a #Kia dealer near us.

Langstrecke mit einem #Elektroauto soll kompliziert sein? Genau das Gegenteil ist der Fall. Ich fahre mit dem Kia EV6 GT mal eben 850 km auf der Autobahn und das sehr sporlich mit einer Reisegeschwindigkeit von 160 km/h wo es geht. Viele glauben immer noch, dass E-Autos nur etwas für die Stadt sind oder dass Langstrecken zur Geduldsprobe werden.

Ich bin ja auf der Suche nach einem elektrischen Zweitwagen für die Familie.
Gerade fällt mir ein EV6 auf, der genau ins Raster passen würde - bis ich die Leistung gelesen habe. 430kW / 585PS ... #wtf?? Das bringen die nicht als Dauerleistung, klar..
Aber wer bitte braucht bei einer Alltagskutsche knapp 600PS?? -
Ich bin ja auf der Suche nach einem elektrischen Zweitwagen für die Familie.

@cmister26 der Verbrauch hängt ja wie immer von Geschwindigkeit, Beladung, Steigung etc ab - durch die Elektro-Effizienz noch deutlicher. Ich fahre einen #EV6 - 17 kWh bei regional, 30 bei voll beladen und Autobahn ca 130 km/h und etwas über 40 mit 2 Pferden im Anhänger

Not much exciting happened over the weekend. Went to my sister‘s birthday party on Friday evening. Woke up early both days because we had stuff to do. Exciting things, like grocery shopping and cleaning the house. But it did mean we could wrap up early. Saturday afternoon, we went to Assembly Square, fast-charged the #EV6, and had a fun cocktail at Parla XXI. It was a relatively warm evening by the fire for #martinis. And yesterday, I made a great Bloody Mary. #SNL was pretty funny.

Wanted to see if my #Kia #EV6 had been affecting my #electricity usage/bill all that much. It seems that, yes, a little, but not as much as I might have thought. I #drive about 20 miles a day on average. I've been charging it off of a 110v slow #charger.

Not much planned for #today. Looks like there will be some snow and ugly weather moving in this afternoon, so probably just hunker down. Maybe I will try another Best Picture nominee tonight, like Frankenstein or Train Dreams. We did get our #EV6’s front bumper fixed, so now nothing is dragging on the ground. I gotta do some paint touchup though. It was good having the girls around today, too, doing the taxiing. Much cheaper than an Uber!

The EGMP platform, which includes the Hyundai Ionic 5, has been plagued with annoying electrical issues, ironically. The Lucid Gravity looks amazing, but it is at least 50% more than the EV6. Maybe we’ll check out the #Volvo #EX40. We still need to take a long road trip with it, though.

Ich fahre seit 1 ½ Jahren elektrisch, ich muss nicht überzeugt werden, ich suche ein Zweitauto zum Langstrecke pendeln.
Ich hätte gerne:
• Ladeplanung im Fahrzeug Navi
• Akku-Vorkonditionierung auf Schnelllader, also dass der Akku im optimalen Bereich ist bei Ankunft am Lader.
• Guten Tempomat (mit Geschwindigkeitsschildererkennung und Abstandsregeler)
• Spurhalteassistent der im Grunde auf Landstraße und Autobahn das Lenken übernimmt und ich muss nur die Hände am Lenkrad haben und aufmerksam sein.
• Schnelllader mit über 150kW wäre super
• Rückfahrkamera, am liebsten so, dass das Auto die Umgebung mit anzeigt (Parkplatzmarkierung und so mit verfolgt und Draufsicht beim Parken wäre toll)
Das alles haben Tesla Y und 3 bspw. (bis auf Geschwindigkeitsschilder die dann Tempomat anpassen), deswegen hätte ich das gerne wieder. -

Had my first mechanical scare with the #EV6. I tried to start it, and it indicated "12V battery voltage low, stop safely". It eventually started and has been running fine since. I had AAA test it and it was fine. The battery technician wasn't too familiar with EVs, though, asking me if it was one of those cars that stop running when you stop. I ordered a jump starter, and I'll keep it in the car. The shop said they might need to keep the car for a week because there's only one #EV mechanic.
