Freedom

I ask for freedom for one day.
One day when my past shall not hold sway
o’er my aching head
and press upon me with its burden.

One day when I shall freely be
all that He sees in me,
to grasp a flicker of eternity
and the Light that beckons me.

I ask for freedom for one day
and that day is now
today.
