There is a "work to rule" that unions sometime use to strike silently...

..."Oooch you don't have requisition form C54? No, it has to be carbon copies, blame the records, they insist"

You could start with a super obedient character in a total authoritarian society.
Everyone has a Melon Fuscovite head implant at birth that monitors your anomalous rebellious thoughts.

    SUPER OBEDIENT.
And as the story progresses, it slowly dawns on the reader that the protagonist is a rabid rebel, causing the system to collapse, all by being super obedient, working to rule, reporting all rule breakers who want to break the laws to the authorities.

In the #novel, I center the #people who are already getting displaced from their homes because of the effects of #climatechange. The #protagonist, Alia, is from Iran, a #country that is so severely affected by chronic #drought that relocating the entire #city of Tehran to a better location is actively under consideration. For #women, especially, the despair from #scarcity of #water sits on top of the immense #oppression they have faced for decades.

  3. A quotation from Homer

Sing to me of the man, Muse, the man of twists and turns …
driven time and again off course, once he had plundered
       the hallowed heights of Troy.
Many cities of men he saw and learned their minds,
many pains he suffered, heartsick on the open sea,
fighting to save his life and bring his comrades home.

Homer (fl. 7th-8th C. BC) Greek author
    The Odyssey [Ὀδύσσεια], Book 1, l. 1ff (1.1-5) (c. 700 BC) [tr. Fagles (1996)]

  4. Behind the Pages: The Quitters Club

    Career Authors
Some people just don’t know when to quit—and thank goodness for that. Jessica Strawser’s new novel might be her most relatable yet, as it follows a group of friends in midlife who set out to challenge the notion that winners never quit. But quitting their way to happiness, of course, turns out to be much […]

  6. New Writing Class: The Hidden Psychology of Story Conflict

Conflict is often taught as the engine of plot, but what if it is really the engine of psychological transformation? When we look at story through a symbolic lens, antagonists can be understood not just as external obstacles, but as forces that reveal the deeper inner workings of the protagonist. This is what I’m exploring […]

  11. Listen, hear me out, okay...?

The #protagonist, #antagonist relationship is foundational to #fascism - and is totally the discovery of fire regarding #psyops.

#Dehumanization is not only a weapon against people, but also a harbinger of ignorance, pretence and #prejudice.

As such, scapegoating is a powerful tool for any #politician to escape the people's ire, or to justify the invasion of foreign lands.

As #writers I think we've leaned on this crutch for way too long.

  12. "I'm in the midst of a trauma. Leave a message. I'll call you back. Leave it by the bed..."

    imdb.com/title/tt7958736/

That lady who plays "Ma". #Ma the film, #Horror i guess you'd call it. #thriller #psychologicalthriller is prob most correct.

But that lady. She has the perfect face. She makes those faces. That's she's perfect for that role. I've seen her in other stuff.

Sometimes I think she's kinda cute. Sometimes, I think she looks like a frog. I think she look like a frog in that scene where she's cutting up the photos singing about the weekend.

    This is pretty good.
Is it bad when the protagonist reminds you of yourself? No she's not the #protagonist
    I dunno. there's a hastag #VillainProtagonist

    I dunno. I don't study the genre.

are there still people who are #filmstudents ?

this would prob be on a list. who's the director?
