#Tariffs can't even be used to fund anything, because #taxes don't fund anything. The purpose of taxes (other than driving behavior or fore use of the currency) is to cause #deflationary pressure by reducing the #money supply.
There's no reduction in the #MoneySupply, to do that you'd need to tax #exports!
Tariffs have their uses, specifically to level playing fields w/r to human rights, workers #rights, #environmental stewardship, etc...So, collecting #money (from a #foreign entity) and then putting that money into our #economy causes _double_ inflation in our economy and deflation in _their_ economy, strengthening their currency and capacity for government spending.

Here’s how we know inflation is not “an increase in the money supply” or even a *function* of an increase in the money supply:
Inflation is differential.
That’s it. That’s all we need to know.
The “inflation rate” is a statistical artifact. It averages the changing prices of *some* goods and services to produce a single number, when in reality some prices go up, some go down, and some stay the same.
If inflation were an effect of “more dollars chasing the same number of goods and services,* it would not be differential.
That’s it.
