Brigadier General Andrii Biletskyi, commander of Ukraine's Third Army Corps:
"No matter what Russians say, they have not captured Luhansk region.
Putin has two objectives: the capture of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and economic (energy and civilian) terror.
"The Ukrainian front has every chance of holding advantageous defensive positions, maintaining the so-called fortress belt, and improving the situation in some areas of the Donetsk front."

FM Sikorski:
"We are meeting on the day when Russia attacked locations right on the border of Poland, which is also the border of the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Russia attacked with modernized drones equipped with jet engines and improved guidance components. This is an escalation, another major challenge for Ukraine, but also for potential future victims of Russian aggression."

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk:
"The coming weeks and months will be a period of very intensive actions on the Russian side.
Unfortunately, we cannot rule out that this escalation will also affect our territory."

FT: Canada seeks to join €90 billion EU loan for Ukraine to strengthen ties with bloc
Canada is negotiating to support the EU's loan for Ukraine as Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney seeks to strengthen transatlantic ties and reduce his country's dependence on the United States.
Source: Financial Times sources, as reported by European Pravda
Details: The sources noted that both sides hope to agree on the size of Canada's contribution to the €90 billion loan for Ukraine before the EU summit in Montreal at the end of October.
The sources said Carney had sought to build an alliance of liberal states committed to a multilateral order that had been thrown into chaos by US President Donald Trump's actions. He also hoped to demonstrate his commitment to European allies by contributing to the Ukraine Support Loan.
The United Kingdom is currently the only other non-EU country to have contributed to the loan.
"We are grateful for all the support that Canada is providing to Ukraine and we are ready to do more together," one European official said.
Carney is travelling to Europe, where he will meet European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Strasbourg on 16 September. He is then expected to travel to Liverpool to meet the UK's new Prime Minister Andy Burnham.
"The EU wants the closest possible relationship with Canada and that is what we are working towards," the European official added.
Background:
• Recently, it emerged that EU member states had agreed to purchase US-made interceptor missiles for Ukraine's Patriot systems worth a total of €3.2 billion as part of the EU's €90 billion loan.
• The EU also noted that the €90 billion loan would cover only two-thirds of Ukraine's needs in 2026-2027.

Ukraine Brief — 2026-09-14
Ukraine's refinery-strike campaign will very likely produce at least one additional strike on Russian energy infrastructure by mid-October despite Trump's public demand, since the request carries no enforcement mechanism and Kyiv's indigenous FP-7 ballistic missile will likely reach operational deployment by mid-November, reducing Washington's leverage over Ukrainian targeting. We have high confidence in the continued-strike assessment: Ukraine's strike tempo has held through prior US and Russian rhetorical pressure, and no Ukrainian official has signaled compliance since Trump's remarks.
A comprehensive Ukraine-Russia peace framework by mid-November is very unlikely given Kushner's identification of Kyiv's refusal of Moscow's territorial line as the unresolved core. Russia will likely strike within five kilometers of a NATO border at least twice more by late October, each incident prompting a member-state fighter scramble. Moderate confidence in both assessments reflects convergent multi-outlet reporting on the territorial impasse and documented border-strike acceleration.
The United States is very unlikely to formally condition military assistance on targeting restraint within the next two months, absent congressional action or a diesel-price escalation beyond the current $6.06 average. A named official publicly linking aid terms to refinery-strike compliance would alter this assessment; absent that signal, Kyiv's strike campaign and indigenous-weapons development advance on parallel tracks unchecked by Washington.

Fourth Russian attack on pharmaceutical warehouse this month: facility on fire in Odesa
Russians have attacked a warehouse belonging to one of Ukraine's largest pharmaceutical distributors. Since the beginning of September, this is already the fourth warehouse storing pharmaceutical products to have been targeted by Russian forces.
Source: Ekonomichna Pravda sources in the pharmaceutical market
Details: The BaDM company's warehouse is located on the outskirts of Odesa, in the city's Khadzhybeiskyi district. A fire broke out on the warehouse premises following the attack, and the State Emergency Service is working at the scene.
The warehouse premises sustained significant damage. According to Ekonomichna Pravda sources in the pharmaceutical market, early reports indicate that there were no casualties.
Background:
• The attack on the BaDM warehouse is the fourth instance of Russian forces striking pharmaceutical market infrastructure.
• As a result of a Russian attack on 3 September, the Biokon logistics hub in the Boryspil district of Kyiv Oblast was damaged. It is considered the country's largest specialised pharmaceutical warehouse.
• On the night of 7-8 September, Russian forces attacked with two ballistic missiles a warehouse belonging to Optima-Pharm, one of Ukraine's largest pharmaceutical distributors, in Kyiv. The warehouse had already been destroyed by the Russians in 2025.
• On 13 September, Russian forces struck Universal Logistic, another of Ukraine's largest pharmaceutical warehouses.
