Consider what happened in Texas in 2010. As part of a highly publicized revamp of the state social studies curriculum, the Republican-controlled Texas Board of Education removed slavery as the central cause of the Civil War and replaced it with states' rights and secession, with Republican board member Patricia Hardy calling slavery "an after issue." The Republican members also considered referring to the slave trade as the "Atlantic Triangular Trade" before finally settling on "Transatlantic Slave Trade."
The new curriculum was silent on the KKK during Reconstruction and failed to mention the Jim Crow era at all. It also equated Confederate President Jefferson Davis and Abraham Lincoln.
In addition, the curriculum claimed that Joseph McCarthy was correct when he said the U.S. government had been infiltrated by communists in the 1950s, included lessons on why the U.S. needs to return to the gold standard, and asserted that the United Nations, International Criminal Court, and global environmental initiatives undermined U.S. sovereignty. And it scrubbed any mention of Thomas Jefferson's role in U.S. history because he advocated for the separation of church and state.

Etwas später hat sich die FU-#Arbeitsvermittlung "#Heinzelmännchen" geweigert, noch Jobs unter 10 DM anzunehmen und 12,50 DM als #GoldStandard ausgerufen.
Kurz danach kam die #Maueröffnung und die Jobs wurden fast alle für 3, 4 oder 5 DM gemacht.
Musste aus #WestBerlin wegziehen, um mir mein #Studium noch mit #Studentenjobs finanzieren zu können.

The executive order is also unconstitutional, threatening to take away the First Amendment rights of scientists by punishing them if they publish truthful and accurate science that is contrary to the administration's political agenda. Such censorship of scientists has been attempted by failed governments of the past such as Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, and early communist China, always with disastrous consequences for their citizens."

Gerade bei über 40 eigene Instanzen ist es wichtig schnell zu wissen, wo welche Schalter sind. Auch der isolierte Zugang zur #SSH Shell (bei geschlossenem Port 22) ist hilfreich.

A new #Trump executive order defines a "gold standard" for federally-funded science.

1. Most of the standards (3.a.i-ix) are borrowed from #OpenScience or conventional pre-Trump science. So far, so good.
2. Implementing the new standards is left to Trump-appointed political operatives (3.c).
3. With minor exceptions, agencies must make public "the data, analyses, and conclusions" on which they make policy (4.a.i.A).
More on the 3d point. In Trump's first admin, the Environment Protection Agency (#EPA) and Dept of the Interior required that all data used in policymaking be open. That seemed to be a laudable #OpenData policy. But it meant that EPA couldn't set policy based on private medical data on the harms caused by air- and water-borne pollutants. It was a head-fake to open in order to relax policies protecting the environment. That's why I called it #OpenWashing. Point 3 above is a big step in the same direction.

There are academics / scientists who distinguish between #EBM #EvidenceBasedMedicine and #SBM #ScienceBasedMedicine.EBM seems to fetishise #RandomControlledTrails #RCTs as the #GoldStandard and has given us at least the #Cochrane review on #Masking by #TomJefferson.
And, I think, also the #CassReport into medical care for young transgender people. Here AIUI over relevant 700 studies were rejected on the basis that they weren't RCTs leaving 2 RTCs considered.

I can't help but think the troubles caused by "your" government about who owns your body (#GenderAffirmation, #ReproductiveRights, etc...) can be traced to when the U.S. went off #GoldStandard.
