The rationale for the rate increase was evident in the #Fed’s latest projections. It showed #inflation, as measured by the Personal Consumption Expenditures price index, ending the year at 3.7%,slightly higher than officials thought just 3 months ago & in line with current levels. They also revised up estimates for “core” inflation, which strips out volatile #food & #energy items, to 3.4%. The 2% target is not expected to be reached until 2029 [ouch].
