The hard-working folk of the Australian Signals Directorate, a department that rarely gets mentioned (and they like it that way) has completed a major coup ASD against the Russian group who snatched millions of records from Australia's Medibank health insurance provider a couple of years ago.
With the help of the UK and US, they identified the major players, located the servers, and wiped out 250 𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘺𝘵𝘦𝘴 of stolen data; the Australian info, and that of many more organisations.
All gone, bye-bye. 😂
The people who ran the show went out for a drink (Russian style, so they got blotto), and while they were in no position to respond, the ASD snuck in to their system and did the deed. The show runners are now sanctioned and on catch-and-keep lists.
Well done, everybody!

Man was apparently involved with last years #Medibank #hack, and has been hit with magnitsky-style sanctions in both fiat and crypto currencies and assets.
So uh, yeah: sucked in, get rekt.

Fabulous. Never had an account with Medibank or AHM but still caught up in the data breach anyway thanks to an ex boyfriend from a literal decade ago adding me as a contact to his policy.
That explains the increase in spam and phishing I’ve had recently.
Data breaches are the sexually transmitted diseases of our time.

During this weekend, #Medibank will be offline and its retails shops closed in order to undertake an 'overhaul of its cyber security systems'.
I suppose this is not a problem. Given they already leaked the entirety of their customer data, which is doing the rounds in the #DarkWeb, you can say the data remains available in case of need during this shutdown.

Climate activist Violet Coco was sentenced to 15-month jail in #Australia. Her crime was to block one traffic lane (out of 5) for 28 minutes.
Magistrate Allison Hawkins said that the climate activist had made an 'entire city suffer' with her 'selfish emotional actions'.
What about all the suffering caused by #Optus, #Medibank, etc. by leaking customer data? I am sure the consequences are far deeper and significant than having to wait in your car for 28 minutes. Why all those executives are not in jail?

Medibank plans security overhaul during the upcoming weekend, and its systems will be offline until Monday.
"This is a planned operation that involves IT security experts from Microsoft who are joining us in our Melbourne headquarters from across the Asia-Pacific region over the weekend. Given the complexity of the maintenance activities and the requirement to take our systems offline this operation has been in the planning stages for several weeks."
