You are a little soul carrying around a corpse, as Epictetus used to say.

Human Beings can do illegal things but they can't be illegal themselves, that's a #racist term that you're promoting.
So when you like to think that you're not a racist person this is why you are regardless of what you think.

  9. The 1st Adam in the Hebrew Scriptures #1 Beginning of everything

Thousands of years ago there was a void, but there also was the Eternal Being that ever was and always shall be, having had no birth and never having an end or not able to die. That divine Eternal Being “That is” or “I Am“, the “I Am Who Am” or the “I Am Who Is” has a Voice and that Voice spoke in the darkness and when it spoke that what it expressed came into being. In this way That Spiritual Being “The I Am that I Am” took care that things came into being. Every time This I am that I am Ehyeh-Asher-Ehyeh אהיה אשר אהיה saw it was alright and when it was good The Cause of Being brought an other thing into existence. Every time The Being “That Is” spoke Its Word became a reality. The incorruptible Word spoken brought into existence.

It was God’s Power (the Holy Spirit) that brought things to life. It was God His Word which was spoken, brought into reality and was there to stay for ever in truth, never telling lies. As such later in history the carnal beings created by that Most High Eternal Being received in their hands the greatest source of the greatest ideas known to man. First the Word went from one being to an other vocally, but later it became recorded on stone plates, than on papyrus and parchment roles. First those words of the Most High were notated in Hebrew, than Aramaic words and Greek words supplemented the documents written down in the name of God by set apart (holy) men.  This way man got the Scriptures, and for this series on the new or 2nd Adam we shall also look into the wisdom of the theological minds who brought forth the 1599 Geneva Bible Patriot’s Edition, which will enable you to think God’s thoughts after Him because the Bible is His special revelation. Herewith is a resource that you are sure to find indispensable for the study and interpretation of creation as God would have you see it.

A 1581 edition of the Geneva Bible. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

The Geneva Bible once changed the world. With that Bible man can hold in their hands something that is about to change the world — again. For those who find that bible we ask them to use this Bible with care. Use it faithfully with faith. Then watch God once more do above and beyond all that we can ask or imagine.

    {For this series we use the revised 2010 Tolle Lege Press (United States of America) edition of the 1599 Geneva Bible Restoration Project}

To come to know why Jesus is so important for us and to come to see who he is and what purpose he served, we have to go back to the beginning of everything. We have to listen to the Word which sounded in the void.

In Genesis chapter one we are told how everything started and that first of all, and before that any creature was, God made heaven and earth of nothing.

    Genesis 1

1 God created the heaven and the earth. 3 The light
and the darkness, 8 The firmament, 9 He separateth
the water from the earth. 16 He createth the sun, the moon,
and the stars. 21 He createth the fish, birds, beasts, 26 He
createth man, and giveth him rule over all creatures, 29 And
provideth nurture for man and beast.

1 In the 1beginning aGod created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was 1,2without form and void, and 3darkness was upon the 4deep, and the Spirit of God 5moved upon the 6waters.
3 Then God said, bLet there be light: And there was 1light.
4 And God saw the light that it was good, and God separated 1the light from the darkness.
5 And God called the Light, Day, and the darkness he called Night. 1So the evening and the morning
    were the first day.

The Creation – James Tissot (1836–1902)

Next we come to hear that it is the only power of God’s Word, His speaking, that makes the earth fruitful, which else naturally is barren. In Scriptures also more than once shall it be repeated that God made all His creatures to serve to His glory and God wanting to see that all is good, but that in the world there is seed, the matter that brings forth new matter, good or bad, depending on how the seed is and where the seed lands, in what sort of soil.

9  God said again, eLet the waters under the heaven be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
10 And God called the dry land, Earth, and he called the gathering together of the waters, Seas: and God saw that it was good.
11 Then God said, 1Let the earth bud forth the bud of the herb, that seedeth seed, the fruitful tree, which beareth fruit according to his kind, which hath his seed in itself upon the earth: and it was so.
12 And the earth brought forth the bud of the herb, that seedeth seed according to his kind, also the tree that beareth fruit, which hath his seed in itself according to his kind: and God 1saw that it was good.

Too many christians do forget that the Bible also tells us clearly that there were animals and plants before man.

20 Afterward God said, Let the waters bring forth in abundance every 1creeping thing that hath 2life: and let the fowl fly upon the earth in the 3open firmament of the heaven.
21 Then God created the great whales, and everything living and moving, which the 1waters brought forth in abundance according to their kind, and every feathered fowl according to his kind: and God saw that it was good.
22 Then God 1blessed them, saying, Bring forth fruit and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let the fowl multiply in the earth.
23 So the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

Only after all the planets, waters and earth, creeping beings it became time for an other creeping being of flesh and blood, in a system where there would be light and darkness as instruments appointed to serve to man’s use.

Every time God spoke, the “soul of life” came into the beings (Hebrew for the “living thing” verse 24).

24  Moreover God said, Let the earth bring forth the 1living thing according to his kind, cattle, and that which creepeth, and the beast of the earth according to his kind, and it was so.
25 And God made the beast of the earth according to his kind, and the cattle according to his kind, and every creeping thing of the earth according to his kind: and God saw that it was good.

It was only after God had commanded the water and the earth to bring forth other creatures, that He said of man “Let us make”, signifying, that He the Most Highest, Who speaks with the ‘Royal We’ (Royal plural or Pluralis majestatis), God

“taketh counsel with his wisdom and virtue, purposing to make an excellent work above all the rest of his creation.” (1599 Geneva Patriot’s Edition)

26 Furthermore God said, h,1Let us make man in our 2image according to our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the heaven, and over the beasts, and over all the earth, and over everything that creepeth and moveth on the earth.
27 Thus God created the man in his image: in the image of God created he him: he created them imale and female.
28 And God 1blessed them, and God said to them, jBring forth fruit, and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it, and rule over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the heaven, and over every beast that moveth upon the earth.
29 And God said, Behold, I have given unto you 1every herb bearing seed, which is upon all the earth, and every tree, wherein is the fruit of a tree bearing seed: kthat shall be to you for meat.
30 Likewise to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the heaven, and to everything that moveth
upon the earth, which hath life in itself, every green herb shall be for meat, and it was so.
31 lAnd God saw all that he had made, and lo, it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

  10. The 1st Adam in the Hebrew Scriptures #2 Beginning of mankind

Monyash Well Dressing 2009, In the Beginning God Created Man. Clay tablet decorated with coloured petals and stones.

After the fifth period in creation the sixth session brought forth ‘living souls‘ or ‘living things’ or ‘living beings’ which could multiply, making the earth having more of their sort. They were not in the image of God, but on the ‘sixth day‘ the Divine Creator decided to make some living being after His image.

This image and likeness of God in man is expounded, Ephesians 4:24, where it is written that man was created after God in righteousness and true holiness, meaning by these two words, all perfection, as wisdom, truth, innocence, power, etc. (Annotations in the 1599 Geneva Patriot’s Edition)

24 And put on the new man, which 1after God is created unto 2righteousness, and 3true holiness.

1 After the image of God.
2 The effect and end of the new creation.
3 Not fained nor counterfeit. (Annotations in the 1599 Geneva Patriot’s Edition)

Man had received everything in him to be happy living for always. Though he was not immortal. The first living being, “a soul” that would be called “man”, was receiving a higher status than the previous created living beings. Man was made in the image of God, indicating that Adam had some similar elements of God and being in the likeness of the Most High Elohim he received in this way a sort of  “royal authority” to govern over God’s creation.

All over the world we can find creation myths, showing that the “being” of it makes only sense when there is a reason for “being”. It is that sense of life so many people are looking for. Genesis uses a similar approach found in other ancient documents: Existence depends on function.

Jackson Wu looks at creation and John H. Walton’s view in this way

Genesis indeed explains the origins of the world but it tells a particular kind of story. It provides a “functional” (rather than a “material”) account of the world origins.

and continues with a good example

If I move beds and dressers out of a “bedroom” and replace it with a desk and file cabinets, what would we say? A “bedroom” no longer exists. I have now “created” a office or study.

    Similarly, Genesis 1 explains how God created the world to be a sacred space, a Temple where He would dwell with his people. This view of Genesis helps us to see who God is, who we are, and God’s design for the world. {When Did God Make China?}

That original manly being was “to be red” (=Adam). Adam occurs approximately 500 times with the meaning of mankind. In the opening chapters of the Bereshith (the Book of the Beginnings or Genesis), with three exceptions (1:26; 2:5,20) it has the definite article indicating “man” or “the man” rather than “Adam”.
The first undisputed occurrence of the name of Adam is in the genealogy of Genesis 5:1-5.

Adam and Eve with Cain and Abel – Catacomb of the Via Latina

1 This is the 1book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created Adam, in the 2likeness of God made he him,
2 Male and female created he them, and blessed them, and called their name 1Adam in the day that they were created.
3  Now Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a child in his own 1likeness after his image, and called his name Seth.
4 aAnd the days of Adam, after he had begotten Seth, were eight hundred years, and he begat sons and daughters.
5 So all the days that Adam lived, were nine hundred and thirty years, and he died.

The 1st Adam indicates to be the first living creature of “red blood”  (hence red blooded or adam), flesh and bones. Of necessity that first fleshly creature out of which mankind would grow could be called the first created man or “the man” and the designation is equivalent to a proper name: Adam.

This first soul or living being, came from the earth, and by receiving the Breath of God came to live. Animated by the divine breath created in the image of God was allowed to have dominion over all other life, animate and inanimate. He is other than God, with no actual physical descent from the Supreme Being or from any inferior deity. Notice also how only by the creation of this human being is mentioned that God “breathed … the breath of life”

    Genesis 2:

7  The Lord God also 1made the man 2of the dust of the ground, and breathed in his face breath of life, band the man was a living soul.

8 And the Lord God planted a garden Eastward in 1Eden, and there he put the man whom he had made.
9 (For out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree pleasant to the sight, and good for meat: the 1tree of life also in the midst of the garden, 2and the tree of knowledge of good and of evil.

    Genesis 1:

Satan Watching the Caresses of Adam and Eve — William Blake (1757-1827); William Blake’s illustrations of “Paradise Lost”, 1808.

30 Likewise to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the heaven, and to everything that moveth upon the earth, which hath life in itself, every green herb shall be for meat, and it was so.
31 lAnd God saw all that he had made, and lo, it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

    Genesis 2:

18 Also the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be himself alone: I will make him an help 1meet for him.
19 So the Lord God formed of the earth every beast of the field, and every fowl of the heaven, and brought them unto the 1man to see how he would call them: for howsoever the man named the living creature, so was the name thereof.
20 The man therefore gave names unto all cattle, and to the fowl of the heaven, and to every beast of the field: but for Adam found he not an helper meet for him.
21  Therefore the Lord God caused an heavy sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in stead thereof.
22 And the rib which the Lord God had taken from the man, 1made he a 2woman, and brought her to the man.
23 Then the man said, cThis now is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called 1woman, because she was taken out of the man.
24 dTherefore shall man leave 1his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they shall be one flesh.
25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and they were not 1ashamed.

Man Made in the Image of God, as in Genesis 1:26 to 2:3, illustration from a Bible card published 1906 by the Providence Lithograph Company (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

The Divine Creator had out of nothing or out of the blackness created elements which became ordered and received a function. As such the Most High Elohim Jehovah is the One God Who brings order out of (primordial) chaos and as such also being the God of order. [Chaos representing “non-order,” not “disorder.”]

Man being set in God’s Garden, the Garden of Eden, got the allowance to name the other things but also got the obligation of obedience to the divine Will, in connection with the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

When you follow the storytelling of creation you shall find God speaking or bringing out words, and then matter came into being. Every time it was God’s Word that brought action and life. Each stage of creation is also approved with the words

    “And God saw that it was good” (Genesis 1: 10, 12, 18, 21, 25, cf. 31),

and the inference is that the creation of man was its consummation and climax.

God wanted to have His Kingdom full of plants, animals and human beings in his likeness. He wanted to see a beautiful world where all of His creatures could live in peace with each other.

The first Adam wanted a partner and God made him one. This person taken out of man, the mannin became the first woman and was to be Adam’s partner giving him children as part of God’s family.

In a courtroom there is no system on trial, no History or historical trend, no ism, anti-Semitism for instance, but a person, and if the defendant happens to be a functionary, he stands accused precisely because even a functionary is still a human being, and it is in this capacity that he stands trial.

  22. Counting sands and stars

    Sandy beach

Those who go up in the mountains or just go out in the fields, now in Summer, may sit there at night and count the stars. Though both the stars in the sky and the particles of sand we may find on the beach are too numerous to count. However, there is a gigantic difference between the two.

Sand: a naturally occurring granular material composed of finely divided rock and mineral particles. – Sand dunes in the Idehan Ubari, Libya.

Grains of sand are tightly pressed and compacted one against the other to form a beach. Each star, on the other hand, is a world in itself. It can be separated from its nearest neighbour by trillions of miles.

Moses tells God that the Jewish nation is too burdensome for him to carry alone. Why? Because they are comparable to the profusion of stars.

Jehovah, the God of the believers used as slaves in Egypt were  multiplied by the Most High and had become like the stars of the heaven in number. (Deuteronomy 1:10)

Deu 1:10-12 RNKJV  YHWH your Elohim hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.  (11)  (YHWH Elohim of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you!)  (12)  How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife?

For Moses there was a burden so heavy as to produce weariness not because they were with many, but more because there was so much division between them. For Moses there may have been a similar problem as what we see today. We can find many people who say they love God, but look at that God in different ways and have different ways to serve Him. Some their worship is not liked by others because it goes against the rules made by God Himself.

In Christendom we may see several ‘planets’ or ‘stars’, find a massive quantity like Moses found one that he could not alone lead them. He wasn’t overwhelmed by the number of people. Rather, the  problem was qualitative.

Moses implied that if the Jews were spiritually and emotionally unified – were proximate to each other, like sand – their large population would not require arduous leadership.

However, when there is a nation of people, each a star in his own right and alienated from others around him, leading them becomes nightmarish.

Jonathan Hughes, rabbi of Richmond United Synagogue calls unto his co-believers saying

As this mournful time of the Jewish year approaches in the run-up to Tisha B’Av, we need to be reminded of the Jewish togetherness that must be etched into our hearts.

One of the reasons we lost the Temple in Jerusa-lem is baseless hatred. Essentially, everyone was a ‘star’ in his own right, all the people light years away from each other.

The Torah’s clarion call is, as the Beatles would say, ‘come together’.

Indeed, the rabbis teach that every Jewish soul contains elements of every other Jewish soul that has been, is, or will be on this planet. We are one unit.

Also for our Christian community we should think about that problem of unity and remember that, our success will hinge on how connected we feel to each other. Every Christian soul (a living being) should carry in him the link to the master teacher Jeshua and as such also should contain elements of every other Christian soul.

A few months ago we already spoke about the problems of co-operating in Belgium of the different Christadelphian groups. We also had to lick our wounds of the 2013-2014 season. Such a small community, but like all other Christian communities, we did and do find human beings not able to work with each other or being afraid others would runaway with people from their group or would  gain more attendance. But we should not be worrying about loosing members, but should worry about getting people closer to God.

It is also not the matter of being a star ourselves, being a gifted or highly celebrated person in the church to whom everybody looks up to, or having all the power. The power belongs to God. It’s about beginning a de-starification process and the forging of sand-like bonds of genuine fraternity. We are taking on the name of being “Brethren in Christ” and as such should be as brothers and sisters be associated for the common purpose or interest, such as to be united in Christ.

Deu 11:13-17 RNKJV  And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love YHWH your Elohim, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,  (14)  That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.  (15)  And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full.  (16)  Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other elohim, and worship them;  (17)  And then YHWH’s wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which YHWH giveth you.

Israel was called to remain faithful to Jehovah, and we as those who are called by Christ Jesus are now also part of that Israel also should be faithful to Him and should not make ourselves other gods or other idols we prefer following instead of the Most High. Jeshua is the cornerstone given by God the Almighty. Though certain people may want to be mighty and do want to have more power than others, we should give ourselves to Christ and be united under him, working all together, working the soil, for the One God. some may expect certain rewards by following certain man but it will be God Who will abundantly bless the people with tokens of His goodness.  A person rendering service to God with all his soul, would become an acceptable “living sacrifice” unto Him).

Rom 12:1 RNKJV  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of YHWH, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto YHWH, which is your reasonable service.

It is  by the mercies of God, to present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy, well-pleasing to God, which is our spiritual worship and a service which we are willing to share with one another, not conformed to the fashion of this world, but being transformed by the renewal of our mind, that we may learn by experience what is the will of God, what is good, and wellpleasing, and perfect (Romans 12:2).

There is the appeal for us to become co-workers, helping each other, not working against each other, or not considering each other rivals. As individual beings, planets or stars, we may be totally different, but together we are one part of the universe, just some small elements in the creation of God.

In that universe, on this globe, living in this world, we should not be part of this world but should be in unity with Christ, all going for Christ. This going for Christ demands following his instructions to go out in this world, preaching the Good News of the coming Kingdom of God. We should try to enlighten others and to take the yoke from their shoudlers by helping them to find the right path to God.

First of all we should first accept upon ourselves the yoke of heaven’s sovereignty, and afterwards accept upon ourselves the yoke of the commandments. Ceaseless we should strive to humbly accept God’s sovereignty. All that we do each day is then guided by the commitment made before at the end of the day.

Soon having a new academic year, starting a new working season, we should take the sparkles of the Summer-months with us and bring the light of the stars into the ecclesia. Without the internal core the star cannot be bright, so we too do have to have a good core. Our nucleus should have a firm duramen full of bright fire of faith. The pith of our faith should be the Biblical knowledge and our thorough frequent Bible reading and sharing this faith and Bible knowledge with each other.

We look forward to find more writers willing to write for our lifestyle magazines and bringing some interesting exhortations, which shall be able to inspire us to go further in space to go out of the darkness and see more light by even more stars which were first hidden.

We do hope we can get some more people to come to read some of our Christadelphian thoughts, to come to our meetings, showing them some more light on dark paths, showing the way unto the path into the stars

As Moses had to guide his people we also have to find guides to help us to recognise the most truthful Guide, the Bible. As brothers and sisters we should be standing ready  to pick up a star, to find something in which we are good and by which we can help others. Each of us has received some talents and those talents we should use for the best. Do not waste those talents, but use them to bring people closer to God.

    Similarly, Genesis 1 explains how God created the world to be a sacred space, a Temple where He would dwell with his people. This view of Genesis helps us to see who God is, who we are, and God’s design for the world. {When Did God Make China?}

    Similarly, Genesis 1 explains how God created the world to be a sacred space, a Temple where He would dwell with his people. This view of Genesis helps us to see who God is, who we are, and God’s design for the world. {When Did God Make China?}
