  2. Life in Gaza has become too heavy to describe.

Every day feels like a struggle between fear, exhaustion, waiting, and trying to survive with the little that remains.

People here do not only need food or shelter. They need safety, dignity, hope, and a life that does not feel like an endless test of patience.

    Gaza is tired.

    And so are we.

  4. #GazaSoupKitchen Update

    January 8, 2026 by #HaniAlmadhoun, Organizer

"Dear friends, allies, and partners in good,

In the last two days of 2025, the #Gaza Soup Kitchen opened its 14th location. Since then, it has been running strong. And yet, every time I think about expanding kitchens in Gaza, I don’t feel a sense of achievement. It feels like a setback for humanity.

Every meal we serve matters—but the growth of these kitchens is a painful measure of how far things have fallen. No amount of coordination, care, or sacrifice can change the truth: this is emergency survival, not dignity.

I keep coming back to the real goal we’ve always had: not to add kitchens, but to close them. Success, to me, looks like people back in their homes, cooking for their children, rather than standing in line for a meal.

What worries me most is the next generation. Children growing up in aid lines instead of classrooms, learning to ration far too early. I think of the Nakba generation, who built lives and institutions out of ruins. That same #Palestinian spirit is here—but under enormous strain. Resilience isn’t endless, and it shouldn’t be romanticized. People were never meant to live like this.

And yet, that spirit persists—in neighbors sharing crumbs, teachers refusing to stop teaching, people showing up for each other when almost nothing remains. That matters. I feel it deeply.

But care alone is not enough. Soup kitchens are a bridge, not a future. The true measure of progress isn’t how well we manage hunger, but how soon we make it unnecessary.

    Our Impact Today

We are serving communities across the #GazaStrip—from #KhanYounes in the south to #BeitLahia in the north. Our kitchens serve real, edible meals—not factory food lacking taste or flavor.

We now scale to serve up to 15,000 families per week.

This week, distributions included winter clothing, baby milk and diapers, food parcels, and hygiene and cleaning supplies.

Our most effective team is in #GazaCity.

The middle-area team in #DeirElBalah is facing space challenges and newer staff, but they are accelerating their distributions and solving logistical issues.

In addition to serving families who register online:

30% of our work happens outside the registration system, with teams dispatched daily to reach disconnected communities.

Water trucks continue to roll daily—about ten per day.

The medical point in Mashrou’ Beit Lahia sees 60–80 patients a day.

The classroom in Khan Younes is teaching 30 children daily, and we are preparing to launch an orphan learning center in Gaza City within two weeks.

    Looking Forward

Ramadan is just weeks away, and we’re concerned that #Israel may limit the number of trucks again, as announced yesterday. This would affect #FoodAccess and increase costs—but for now, we are holding off from buying everything in the market prematurely.

What helps us most is sharing our videos, stories, and updates—engaging, commenting, and spreading awareness. If you can, consider becoming a monthly donor.

    To give context:

Our daily operational costs have risen from $15,000/day to $30,000/day.

This page used to average $5,000/day in donations, now it’s under $2,000/day.

I hate asking for money, but as our team’s response grows, donations are not keeping pace. Your support is critical, and I hope you can help us think creatively about the future.

Thank you for being here. For every crumb shared, every child fed, and every story told, your partnership matters.

    With deep gratitude,
    Hani
    Gaza Soup Kitchen

    P. S. In other news, Israel hit two schools today where we run kitchens, there has been injuries and at least one fatality which is tragic, our staff are unharmed as they had just washed up and left for the day."

  5. As Freed #Palestinians Describe #Torture, Trump OKs $3 Billion #Arms Package for #Israel

Like the #Biden administration, Trump is claiming an "emergency" in order to bypass Congress.

    Brett Wilkins, Feb 28, 2025

"As #Palestinians released from Israeli imprisonment recount torture and other abuse suffered at the hands of their former captors, the Trump administration on Friday approved a new $3 billion weapons package for Israel.

"The new package, reported by Zeteo's Prem Thakker, includes nearly $2.716 billion worth of bombs and weapons guidance kits, as well as $295 million in bulldozers. The Trump administration said that 'an emergency exists that requires the immediate sale,' allowing it to bypass Congress, as the #Biden administration did on multiple occasions. However, the weapons won't be delivered until 2026 or 2027.

"From October 2023 to October 2024, Israel received a record $17.9 billion worth of U.S. arms as it waged a war of annihilation against the #GazaStrip that left more than 170,000 #Palestinians dead, maimed, or missing and millions more displaced, starved, or sickened. Israel is facing #genocide allegations in an International Court of Justice case brought by South Africa. The International Criminal Court has also issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin #Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister #YoavGallant.

"Reporting on the new package came after U.S. Sen. #BernieSanders (I-Vt.) on Monday announced an effort to block four other arms sales totaling $8.56 billion in offensive American weaponry to Israel.

"Meanwhile, some of the approximately 1,000 Palestinians released by Israel as part of a prisoner swap described grim stories of abuse by Israeli forces. The former detainees, who were arrested but never charged with any crimes, 'have returned visibly malnourished and scarred by the physical and psychological torture they say they faced in Israeli prisons,' according to The Washington Post. Some returned to what were once their homes to find them destroyed and their relatives killed or wounded by Israeli forces.

"Eyas al-Bursh, a doctor volunteering at al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City when he was captured by Israeli troops, was held in Sde Teiman and the Ofer military prison in the illegally occupied West Bank for 11 months.

"'The places where we were held were harsh, sleep was impossible, and we remained handcuffed and blindfolded,' al-Bursh told the Post.

"'We endured psychological and physical torture without a single day of respite—whether through beatings, abuse, punches, or even verbal insults and humiliation,' he added.

"The #IsraelDefenseForces told the Post that it 'acts in accordance with Israeli and international law in order to protect the rights of the detainees held in the detention and questioning facilities.'"

  6. Not the first time #Israel has used #DepletedUranium on civilian populations...

From 2015: VP/HR — Gaza Strip and bombs with depleted uranium

    March 3, 2015

"There is now enough convincing data to prove that Israel has repeatedly used depleted uranium [#DU] weaponry. Such was the case in the large-scale massacre that took place in the #GazaStrip in August 2014.

"These weapons cause #cancers and #foetal malformations in the populations affected, which may take on epidemic proportions. In #Iraq, in the city of #Fallujah, where these bombs were launched in industrial quantities by the International Coalition led by the# UnitedStates, 52% of children today are born with #deformities.

"The lethal effects of #radioactivity caused by explosions and subsequent fires, including cancer of the lungs and pleura, can persist for centuries in the #environment and particularly in #aquifers. We are therefore on the verge of another humanitarian catastrophe in #Palestine and in particular in the #Gaza Strip, where thousands of tons of depleted uranium bombs were dropped with the effects that have already been documented.

"In view of this situation, what is the Vice-President/High Representative thinking of doing to pressure Israel into assuming its responsibilities for this crime against humanity, and what help can the Vice-President/High Representative offer to the Palestinian authorities to carry out epidemiological monitoring, which also includes all EU citizens who have moved to the territory since then?"

  7. #IsraeliAirstrikes Target Medical Facility, Kill Five Health Ministry Workers

    By Niko Georgiades, #UnicornRiot

    October 2, 2024

#Gaza, Palestine — "More than 1,150 Palestinians working in the health sector in Gaza have been killed by #Israeli forces since Oct. 7, 2023 — one of many atrocities inflicted upon #Palestinians over the last year. Two weeks ago, 986 health workers who’ve been killed were named publicly. Four days later, on Sept. 21, five #GazaHealthMinistry (#GHM) workers were killed when Israel bombed a medical storage facility in the southern Gaza Strip.

"As of Wednesday, nearly 41,700 Palestinians are officially listed by the GHM as being killed by Israel over the last year in the bombarded #GazaStrip and over 96,625 have been injured. A massive part of the two-plus million Palestinian residents in Gaza have been forcibly displaced."

  8. '#Israel's #Starvation Strategy': #IDF Fires on #WorldFoodProgram Team

"This is totally unacceptable and the latest in a series of unnecessary security incidents that have endangered the lives of #WFP's team in #Gaza."

    Jake Johnson
    Aug 29, 2024

"The World Food Program said Wednesday that it was forced to suspend the movement of its employees in Gaza after the Israeli military fired on one of the #UnitedNations agency's teams as its clearly marked vehicle advanced toward an Israeli checkpoint in the #Palestinian enclave.

"The agency said in a statement that the WFP team was returning from a mission with two armored vehicles "after escorting a convoy of trucks carrying humanitarian cargo routed to Gaza's central area."

"'Despite being clearly marked and receiving multiple clearances by Israeli authorities to approach, the vehicle was directly struck by gunfire as it was moving towards an Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) checkpoint,' WFP said. 'It sustained at least ten bullets: five on the driver's side, two on the passenger side, and three on other parts of the vehicle. None of the employees onboard were physically harmed.'

"While the WFP's statement doesn't explicitly attribute the gunfire to Israeli forces, U.N. spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric told reporters Wednesday that the food agency's vehicle was "struck 10 times by IDF gunfire, including with bullets targeting front windows.'

"Cindy McCain, WFP's executive director, said the attack was 'totally unacceptable and the latest in a series of unnecessary security incidents that have endangered the lives of WFP's team in Gaza.'

"'As last night's events show, the current deconfliction system is failing and this cannot go on any longer,' said McCain. 'I call on the #Israeli authorities and all parties to the conflict to act immediately to ensure the safety and security of all aid workers in Gaza.'

"The Israeli military's latest attack on aid workers in Gaza came as famine continued to spread across the strip, which Israel has strangled with a blockade that has restricted the flow of food and other necessities.

"#KennethRoth, the former executive director of #HumanRightsWatch characterized the WFP attack as part of 'Israel's starvation strategy.' Israeli forces have repeatedly targeted humanitarian workers in Gaza, making the enclave the most dangerous place in the world for aid agency employees."

  9. As Israel begins its forced dispersal of civilians in the city of Rafah, after an #Israel cabinet level order, footage was provided by the govt showing #Israeli police, raiding #AlJazeera TV network HQ at the #AmbassadorHotel in #Jerusalem and confiscating #broadcasting and editing equipment. The so-called "only democracy in the middle east", began blocking traffic to the website, and banned the carriage of the video signal "which harms national security" within its borders. Another Israeli official said the country will not allow "enemies to broadcast antisemitic #propaganda and blood plots from our territory". The move against the #Qatar govt owned #News organization, which included confiscation of employee cellphones, was largely condemned by #Journalists and several govt's worldwide including the #BidenAdministration. An Al Jazeera spokesperson from #Doha called the act "Criminal" and said part of Israel's "effort to conceal its actions in the #GazaStrip, stands in contravention of international and humanitarian law.”
