Le Dr Hussam Abu Safiya est pédiatre. Il dirigeait l’hôpital Kamal Adwan, dans le nord de Gaza.
Arrêté par l’armée israélienne le 27 décembre 2024, il est depuis maintenu en détention sans inculpation ni procès.
Les Nations unies et Amnesty International ont dénoncé le caractère arbitraire de sa détention. Son avocat fait état d’une grave détérioration de son état de santé et rapporte des mauvais traitements et des actes de torture.
En tant que médecins et soignants, nous rappelons un principe fondamental : soigner n’est pas un crime.
Même en temps de guerre, les soignants, les patients et les structures de santé doivent être protégés.Aujourd’hui, notre voix est la sienne.
Nous demandons la libération du Dr Hussam Abu Safiya.

Mamdani drew parallels between Mandela’s struggle and the situation facing Palestinians today, citing kidnapped Gaza doctor Dr. #HussamAbuSafiya, who is still detained by Israeli forces, as an example.
