My mobile phone flashed up an emergency text alert yesterday evening, with a siren sound that made me nearly jump out of my skin! The alert said 'Severe' and I immediately thought that the Russkies were invading!

TBH we also need a national #alert system *without* siren noise, just normal notification for such things as general warnings that are important to the public, but not an /immediate/ emergency (the equivalent on maritime comms is a SECURITÉ warning)

On my Samsung Galaxy
Settings → Safety and Emergency → Wireless Emergency Alerts
Then there are options to enable/disable them and also Emergency Alert History.

A: Pissed everyone off
B: Anyone not pissed off is busy deep breathing into a paper bag and will be pissed off as soon as their heart stops exploding.
C: Anyone with a hidden or secret phone is currently up shit creak without a paddle... -
