The last part of this pull quote is the actual story. Not all the quaint bullshit I was excited about.
"By 2024, the community had outgrown its rented rooms and church basements and purchased the building that became the new #Jewish center, roughly tying one in #Fairbanks, #Alaska, as the northernmost #Chabad houses in the world. The building sits in #Reykjavik’s compact downtown, just blocks from the iconic #RainbowStreet and #Harpa #OperaHouse that make the city one of the most Instagram-friendly sites in the world.
In a city that caters to tourists, and for a community built largely from #immigrants, longtime #Icelandic Jewish families, and people who married into Icelandic life, the new center represents something rare: a shared physical home.
“It’s been clear for a long time that we need a home for our community,” said one Jewish resident in #Iceland, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because not all of his colleagues know he is Jewish."

Cool cool cool. Good times out here I guess... 😒
"When dozens of #Jewish girls emerged from a storm drain in #Nyack, #NewYork, Wednesday after becoming lost on a #school trip, local officials described the episode as a fortunate ending to a potentially dangerous situation.
On #socialmedia, however, the incident quickly drew a slew of #antisemitic comments.
“They can’t help it. Roaches and rats love the sewers,” wrote one #Facebook user on a post by the #Rockland Daily.
“Those tunnels were promised to them 3,000 years ago,” another user wrote, referencing the common online antisemitic phrase ridiculing the Jewish connection to #Israel.
Many of the comments also referenced the 2024 incident at the #Chabad-#Lubavitch movement’s world headquarters in #CrownHeights, #Brooklyn, in which a group from the movement attempted to dig an unauthorized tunnel beneath the building.

"#Orthodox #Jewish #women are often #stereotyped as oppressed or limited by tradition. But their real stories are far more complex. From #Chabad emissaries and #Hasidic influencers to #artists, #students, and #spiritual leaders, these women share how #faith shapes their identities, careers, families, and ambitions. "#EishetChayil: Woman of Valor – Heroines of Our History is a commentary on the 22 verses of #Proverbs 31, based on #midrash, the #Talmud, classic #rabbinic texts, and #ChabadHassidut. It is published by #Kehot, the central publishing house of the #Chabad-#Lubavitch movement.
The #book does not merely explain “Eishet Chayil”; it positions it as a sweeping #theological and historical statement about #Jewish #womanhood and Jewish survival. The tone is set early on, with sentences like, “At every critical juncture of our long and challenging history, you will find the fearless and wise eishet chayil shepherding us toward our destiny.”
One of the book’s central claims is clear and consistent: Jewish #history does not merely include #women; it is propelled by them."

In “diplomatic isolation”:
A defeated autocrat on standby, a minister fresh from 11 hours of police questioning who organized the show, and a Catholic #Chabad sect devotee lighting the torch… who needs enemies?
Miri Regev on Milei (the first foreign leader ever chosen to light a torch, now symbolizing Israel’s 12 disasters according to critics, at Israel’s Independence Day): ‘one of the most prominent leaders of the free world and one of Israel’s closest friends.’ 😂 she’s funny like that

Weeks before #Israel recognized #Somaliland, two #Miami #Chabad followers slipped into the #HornOfAfrica to print the #Tanya—a centuries-old #Hasidic work rarely seen in such sensitive regions. Their journey blends faith, risk, and geopolitics in one remarkable mission.

Most secular Israelis who are Jews, as well as many religious Israelis, will tell you that #Chabad is an abusive, arrogant, and imposing organization with a missionary agenda that aims to kidnap Jewish identity. Chabad does not represent the Jewish people more than the state of Israel does, and car driving with a happy #Chanukah sign through the streets is not a Jewish tradition, it’s a Chabad missionary tradition. International outlets should really stop conflating Chabad and Judaism.

Quoting Historian Shai Hazkani and Tamir Sorek on how religious rights’ vision for Jewish supremacy and Palestinian elimination has gained mainstream acceptance in Israeli society:
Hazakani and Sorek analyzed Rabbi Yitzchak Ginzburg's sermon "Time to Crack the Nut," which outlined a plan to dismantle what he termed the four "shells" protecting Israeli democracy: media, legal system, government institutions, and the military's ethical constraints. Ginzburg, a #Chabad-trained rabbi who became influential among religious Zionist settlers, particularly the "hilltop youth" militia, advocated for the complete removal of Palestinians from historic Palestine.
Key survey findings from March 2025:
- 82% of Israeli Jews support forcibly expelling Gaza residents (up from 45% in 2003)
- 56% support forcibly expelling Palestinian citizens of Israel (up from 31% in 2003)
- 47% believe the Israeli military should kill all residents when conquering enemy cities, following the biblical precedent of Jericho
- 65% believe a contemporary Amalek exists, with 93% of those saying the biblical commandment to "blot out Amalek" applies today
There’s a particularly high support among younger Israelis, with 66% of those under 40 supporting expulsion of Palestinian citizens and 58% endorsing total elimination of enemy populations.
[…] Ginzburg's achievement is indeed the result of shattering the shells, even if the "crackers" weren't always his direct supporters. Hebrew media, the first shell, was always enlisted but maintained a veneer of professionalism. Recently, for the most part, it has abandoned even this pretense, and since the massacre in the Gaza envelope, many journalists have abandoned critical coverage, with some even joining the bellicose calls for revenge, expulsion, and extermination.
[…] The judiciary, which refused to openly declare Jewish supremacy in the Land of Israel and their right to expel, exterminate, or starve their enemies — while simultaneously playing a crucial role in preserving the occupation — was seen by Ginzburg as a stumbling block that "we must break... through mockery and 'contempt of court.'" It appears that the second shell has also undergone change, if it hasn't been completely removed already: about two months ago, Supreme Court Justice David Mintz rejected a petition by the organization "Gisha" to compel Israel to ensure humanitarian aid delivery to the Strip, ruling that this constitutes a "biblical commanded war," effectively authorizing the denial of food, water, and medicine to millions of Gazans. Mintz's ruling, a resident of the settlement Dolev, joined by Chief Justice Yitzhak Amit and Justice Noam Sohlberg from the settlement Alon Shvut, is already claiming lives.
[…] The education system, part of that same second shell, became a workplace where Jewish teachers promoting universal values risk dismissal (for Arab teachers, this danger was never foreign). Education researchers point to a sharp shift toward ethnocentric nationalism in curricula since the Second Intifada, and this process has led to high support for expulsion and extermination, particularly among those who completed their studies in the past 20 years. 66% of those 40 and under support expelling Arab citizens of Israel, and 58% want to see the IDF replicate Joshua's actions at Jericho. Generational gaps in political attitudes aren't unusual, but in Israel it has widened dramatically since the beginning of the 21st century.
[…] It seems there's little need to elaborate on the Knesset and government. Ginzburg himself demands that "the government — whether left or right — we must eliminate. We must bring it down, and when a new one arises, bring that down too, and so on — until establishing Torah rule in the land." The five election cycles held within three and a half years show that here too, Ginzburg can boast of considerable divine assistance.
The two scholars argue that October 7th provided the opportunity Ginzburg had long awaited to implement his vision. They trace how his ideology has penetrated Israeli institutions - from media abandoning critical coverage to Supreme Court Justice David Mintz recently ruling that denying humanitarian aid to Gaza constitutes a "biblical commanded war."
They conclude that without rejecting Jewish supremacy entirely and establishing genuine equality between the Jordan River and Mediterranean Sea, Israel will continue its trajectory toward what they describe as a "Spartan and ostracized society."

#US / Harvard Divinity School administrators resign citing university's tolerance of anti-muslim bias and attacks on pro-Palestinian voices
Two administrators at Harvard Divinity School's Religion and Public Life program have resigned, citing the university's failure to address a hostile environment towards Muslims and those critical of Israel.
Hussein Rashid, the assistant dean, explicitly accused Harvard of tolerating racist and defamatory statements against the program, particularly from Jewish groups like Hillel and #Chabad.
[…] He cited as an example an Instagram post by Harvard Chabad, led by Rabbi Hirschy Zarchi, that said: “There are numerous Harvard academic centers that essentially function as Hamas or Palestinian embassies,” citing the Religion in Public Life center “in its entirety,” and concluding, “it’s stunning that there’s no call for some of these centers to be shut down or rebuilt in its entirety.”

#UK / Chabad charity warned for funding foreign military
The Charity Commission in England and Wales issued an Official Warning to #Chabad Lubavitch Centres North East London and Essex Limited after it was discovered that the charity raised funds to support a soldier in the Israeli military, which is outside its stated charitable purposes.
The commission found this to be misconduct and a breach of trust following over 180 complaints. While charities can support the #UK armed forces, providing aid to foreign militaries is unlawful. The charity has been instructed to rectify the situation and could face further action.
The Chabad-Lubavitcher is a Hasidic Orthodox Jewish cult some claim is heretical.
[…] Today Chabad represents the cutting edge of Zionist Jewish life in America — a movement that draws disillusioned Jews from progressive and liberal corners of Judaism and funnels them to the Zionist right. And my sense is that the movement is only gonna exert more and more power as the liberal Zionist consensus collapses here in America.

#Israel / #ICC Wanted Gallant claims divine backing for Gaza genocide 🙄 … a master class in denial and megalomania
Speaking at #Chabad (a heretical Jewish sect whose members follow a Messianic tradition centered around their late leader, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson) headquarters in Brooklyn, Gallant, once viewed as the secular, pragmatic voice in Israel's war cabinet attributed military "achievements" in #Gaza to both #IDF soldiers and "God's miracle."
[…] "This could not have happened without the faith of the Jewish people, without the support of millions of Jews around the world, without the prayers and thanks to the tremendous actions and great sacrifice of IDF soldiers. Our soldiers deserve every compliment. I too, who led this campaign, knew that I was doing this in the name of the State of Israel and also as a messenger of God, the Lord of Hosts. We are Jews, we have a land, we have a people."
In response to October 7th, the U.S. has funneled an historic $22.76 billion into #Israel's military campaign - more than any previous year since aid began in 1959 - effectively underwriting a humanitarian catastrophe while the true total of American financial backing remains deliberately obscured. https://watson.brown.edu/costsofwar/papers/2024/USspendingIsrael
For a secular official who oversaw the October 7th unprecedented failure to now cast himself as "God's messenger" while celebrating the systematic destruction of Gaza and the killing of tens of thousands of civilians, transforms what was already a humanitarian catastrophe into something far more disturbing.
