@panda Obviously the National Palace Museum has to be on everyone's list. Everyone goes to the Taipei 101 building. The view (weather permitting) is great but that is the only thing that is unique to the building. There are many more sights and markets in the South of the Island, Tainan espcially and I would spend most of my time there (I split my living in #Taiwan between #Taipei and #Tainan.) Most of the South except for #Kaohsiung were not bombed during WW2 so Qing dynasty houses still stand as well as pre-WW2 Japanese buildings. The pace is slower but to get out of the cities you need a car (Tainan is very walkable).
