Really pleased that I’ve now written 17 blog posts for the year so far (against a target of one per month). I think I can aim for at least two a month next year.
My #DigitalGarden is working well as a few blog posts started out as short notes that were just helping me document some of the various websites I’ve been involved with.

Building a new Obsidian vault from scratch using correct MOC methods is easier this time round (having used it for a few years now)!
Dataview and Dataview Serializer are being used in conjunction to my Quartz site. It's really fun TBH and I look forward to deploying my first few notes on the live site soon.

@pizza_roquette mais le concept de jardin numérique (#digitalgarden) au départ c'est l'idée de se différencier d'un blog dans la manière non chronologique de publier des choses sur un site. Les entrées (notes) grandissent à leur rythme, tu amendes, tu tailles, tu complètes au fur et à mesure. Tu commences une note par deux phrases un jour, et 3 mois plus tard tu viens compléter parce que tu es retombé sur le sujet etc.

I’ve started building a #DigitalGarden. This is just for me at the moment but I might turn it into a public thing on my website.
I‘ve only written 50 notes for it so far, but I’m trying to add at least one new note a day.
What has been quite cathartic is writing short notes base on old memories. Today I wrote a note about the stickers and cards that I collected as a child.

I have finished my stay at the monastery for now, and after three months with almost no internet but offline access to @obsidian, I have spent the last four days nerding out hard with Claude helping me to build an anarchish FOSS-first #digitalgarden using #Quartz and @GitHub, which I had either never heard of or never touched before the weekend.
And now it is live.

Something neat happened to me the other day: I got a message from a stranger (in the comments section of an unplugred/blepfx YouTube video of all places) saying they love my #digitalGarden. I think we've been told how we should do websites, how we should put content out there, or even brand ourselves online, to the point that we can't think of anything else beyond that sometimes.
For a while I thought if I didn't do my SEO right, nobody would find my website. So I wrote my articles a certain way, and it killed any joy I had for writing. But when I discovered digital gardens and the indie web, I realized that, you know what, I should stop caring about whether the SEO gods want to bless my website or not.
I think marketing has sort of infected the internet to the point where even ordinary people with nothing to sell feel like they should present themselves online like marketers. We don't have to. There's another way of doing it. So you do you.

Quality human-written content is hard to come by through search engines. Most can be found on Lobsters, Bubbles, HN, etc. but they tend to get buried as the trend passes.

В общем, есть у меня т.н. цифровой сад, а то есть викиобразный сайт со всяким чем попало. Садами такие штуки называются во многом из-за их изменчивости — меняется содержимое, связи между страницами, названия, адреса, что угодно. И вот написал я, допустим, крупный пост с подборкой скриптов для Reaper, разместил у себя в 3АШYМЛЕНNЕ и забыл об этом. Время проходит, я что-то где-то переместил в другую папку или переименовал, а тот адрес стало быть и не работает больше.
Решение этой проблемы упало мне в голову ещё пару лет назад. Плагин для Obsidian создаёт GUID для каждой заметки, а из этого получаем и неизменный адрес безо всяких вложенностей и тонкостей. Через два года я обновил Quartz, через который публикую свой волт в виде сайта, и попросил Copilot сделать красиво. Он и сделал. Не сразу всё гладко и я потратил почти все токены, но теперь это вроде бы работает:

Пост пишу, как водится, самому себе на память, но так как я знаю, что юзеры Obsidian тут и там есть, а кое-кто и цифровой сад имеет, авось и сгодится кому.

I think I'm getting back into the digital garden thing, again. Not for my blog, that's staying on WordPress. Anything "substantial" like blog posts, reviews, whatnot goes there.
It's more about having a public pile of notes. Mainly for .NET at the moment.

June has flown by it seems, and that means Junited-2026 has come to an end. This initiative by Robert has got me reading a lot more blogs this month (and I actually missed two weeknotes…) I’d thoroughly enjoyed discovering new bloggers and was in a “consuming mode” for most the month.
