Hello from Japan! Riding the subway to work this morning reminded me of this photo I once took at Nagoya Station, so I chose it as today’s new image for my photo blog. A slow shutter speed works quite nicely with this type of scene.

EuroTripping – Basel
In the afternoon of one of the days we were staying outside of Basel, Switzerland on our European Pretzel this past summer, we decided to go into town for a walkabout.
It was an extremely hot afternoon with the sun blazing away and we chose to end our sizzling walk before we hit many of the sights I had planned for us to wander by, if only for the sake of our poor four-legged family member. We did explore along and over the Rhine and by the Kunstmuseum before we bought a Wickelfisch (a waterproof bag of sorts that locals use to keep their clothing dry as they float down the river) for half of our quartet to use later that evening as they went back to cool off with a river float.
In the morning a couple days later, we purposely went early to walk the dog near a water tower in a Basel suburb, the Wasserturm Bruderholz, and I explored the inside as well, using our only Euro coin for automated entry.
Here are some images taken around Basel in the last week of June.
Looking across the Rhine One of a few dragon fountains we came across This Egyptian goose is a smart cookie, finding some shade Housing and a Swiss flag Folk cooling off in the Rhine Floaters and boats Boat and buoy The cathedral with its detailed roof A corner with some striped umbrellas Someone walking their chair The concrete underside of a bridge, providing some shade Looking down the spiral stairs in the water tower The top of Wasserturm Bruderholz Looking up the spiral stairs Another look at the water tower A fountain outside the Kunstmuseum that my better half swam in
(I had read prior to our visit that people are allowed to bathe in the fountains around town — and many of us sat on the edge with our bare feet and legs dangling in to cool off a bit) A fountain on the side of the water tower Another fountain in town Looking up in the entry hall of the water tower Brick facade Painted facade Shutters and a cafe A building along the Rhine #Architecture #Basel #Photoblog #Photography #Rhine #River #Switzerland #Travel #WaterTower -

Good morning from Japan! Today's new image on my website is a candid scene from the Shibamata area in the Katsushika Ward of Tokyo. Bystanders are watching the preparation of Yakitori (skewered grilled chicken).
