  1. The Point Reyes peninsula (north and west of San Francisco) is gorgeous! Here's a photo from a very, very windy evening at Drake's Beach. View it larger and you'll see the sand being swept across the beach by the wind!

For #MeerMittwoch #SeaWednesday and #WaybackWednesday 😅 since this is from May 2013... sheesh that was 13 years ago... 😳

  6. #ThrowbackThursday to May 2016, when I had the opportunity to use a friend's infrared-converted camera (and had fun with it😁).

The invisible IR light is "shifted" into our human range through white balance, so anything goes with regards to color — there's no one "right" way for it to look...

Therefore, it's common to use black and white, or to swap the red & blue channels, in order to get a blue sky (what I did here).

  11. Looking back at April 2016 for #ThrowbackThursday when we had spent a night in Solvang and I was out early to make photos along a road that looked promising. Everything was fenced though! Where the road passed through a lovely forested area, I found this "Waking Dream" of lace-lichen covered oaks, in the canyon of Alisal Creek.

  12. "Two Oaks, Mesa Grande" for #FoggyFriday

Photographed on the same day as the previous photo that I shared yesterday — except that Mesa Grande is at a higher elevation, and was in the clouds! Quite a (photographic) treat... :)

  13. "Driftwood After Sunset" for the lonely #SunsetSaturday hashtag theme.

Blended from two exposures: 8 seconds @ ISO 64 for the immediate foreground (without filter) + 60 seconds @ ISO 500 for the water & sky (with ND filter).

    Photographed in Crescent City, California.

  15. #TIL about Apple's Universal Clipboard.... TODAY. 😔

...and now I don't want to think about the years and years that I've spent manually typing in 2FA codes on my computer from an authenticator app on my phone... 😅

  16. I wrote a few (read: too many) words about the ancient art of bracketing 😉 and this is the photo that goes with the article — made last month on a trail near our house when a lovely foggy morning brought temporary relief from the March heatwave here in Southern California.

  17. Please Vote NO on California Prop 4

    Boosts highly appreciated

Disguised as being used for “forest health” and “wildfire protection,” $1.5 billion is tucked into the $10 billion bond [...] in an attempt to bribe the public into supporting it. Another $1.2 billion is designated for “restoration” of natural areas, which in Cal Fire’s Orwellian view of Nature means even more habitat clearance, logging, and herbicide use.

  18. @alexskunz Yeah, #deadbeef is almost there. It's simple, very usefull, it responds quickly to navigation and keyboard commands, can handle very large playlists, supports variety of formats, has a lot of features that look like inspired by #foobar2000. I've got it installed, I'm using it for some tasks.
Unfortunatelly it's playlist view is a custom control and there is no accessibility support for that control. So when using arrow keys to change selection I don't know which item is being selected and what's the text of that item.
  19. Yesterday's "Silent Sunday" photo appears, together with an Albert Einstein quote and three more images, in my latest blog post with impressions from the greater area of and around Lassen Volcanic National Park, where we also saw bubbling mudpots, had unexpected snow, the cloud iridescence, and then beautiful evening light — what a great variety!
