A quieter side of Bryce. The sun hadn’t committed, so light fell in patches across the amphitheater… some hoodoos lit, others still cool, ridgelines stacking into haze. Not the postcard glow, but I liked the mood.

At the base of a wall of Bryce hoodoos, looking straight up… spires crowded together and soaring into a hard blue sky. From below you feel how dense and tall they are, warm orange stone stacked shoulder to shoulder.

💁🏻♀️ TIL: #BryceCanyon in #Utah isn’t actually a #canyon – it’s a series of natural amphitheaters holding the world’s largest collection of #hoodoos, rock spires up to 60m tall that began forming 50 million years ago. 🏜️
The #park sits at 2,400m elevation, hosts #endangered species like the Utah #prairiedog and #California #condor, and became an International Dark Sky Park in 2019. 🌌

This was one of my favorite spots in Bryce Canyon National Park - Fairyland Canyon - the start or end of a 8.4 mile loop hike (6 through the canyon and two from Sunrise to Fairly trailheads. The hike was beautiful with elevation gains of around 1900 feet (ups and downs with he ups being more prevalent when heading out of the canyon. I took the non-preferred clockwise route. The elevation at the Fairyland Point starts at 7,770. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/starting-down-the-fairyland-trail-loop-no-2-belinda-greb.html #fairylandcanyon #brycecanyon #hike #hoodoos
