Mein Persönliches Wissensmanagement? Schnell ein paar Bücher stapeln.

Schnelle Notiz: Heute haben sich Martina, Verena, Ines und ich getroffen und Ideen zum vor vier Wochen von Jochen Robes offiziell gestarteten Buchprojekt 2026 der Corporate Learning Community gesponnen (zu dem Projekt hatte ich schon in meinem #CLCamp26 Rückblick geschrieben, und zum #CLCBuch2025 verschiedentlich auch schon hier und dort).

Als Teilgruppe im größeren Team des diesjährigen Buchprojekts wollen wir Stimmen, Ideen und Bilder aus der Community zum Thema „Persönliches Wissensmanagement“ (Personal Knowledge Management, PKM) sammeln. Als Warmup, Austausch- und Ideenraum, digitales und analoges Rauschen und Vernetzungsimpulsfeuerwerk, das uns über die nächsten Monate begleitet. Wir wollen Fragen zum Thema vorschlagen und … als eine Art erweiterte Blogparade? (weiß nicht, ob das noch ein passender Begriff ist) … in einem Kanal zusammenführen, damit sich alle am Buch oder Thema Interessierten kontinuierlich austauschen und mit Impulsen zu diesem weiten Themenfeld inspirieren können, über das konzentrierte und meist individuelle Schreiben an den eigentlichen Buch-Beiträgen hinaus.

Bilder, einzelne Sätze, Sketchnotes, Sprachnachrichten … all das, was der Community einfällt, wird willkommen sein. Gesammelt über einen Hashtag, der noch gefunden werden muss (und den ich hier nachreiche, sobald wir ihn haben). Zusammengetragen über einen zentralen, kommunikationsfördernden Kanal. Und mit der Möglichkeit, die Einreichungen als Artefakte zur Gestaltung des Buches zu verwenden. (Beim letzten Buchprojekte über die Geschichte der CLC hatten wir ja Fotos aus 15 Jahre CLC im Archiv, die wir nutzen konnten. Diesmal ist das anders, deshalb sind wir auf Fotos, Zeichnungen oder Statements aus der Community angewiesen …) Ich bin dank unseres heutigen Termins sehr aufgeregt und lernlustig, was da alles kommen wird. (Kommt überhaupt etwas? Joachim hatte herausgefunden, dass es etwas ähnliches bereits beim ersten CLC-Buchprojekt im Jahr 2017 gab und damals auf große Resonanz stieß. Aber 2017 sah das Internet noch anders aus. Funktioniert so etwas heute noch, verteilt über die diversen Publikationskanäle hinweg, zusammengeführt z. B. in einer Signal-Gruppe … oder auch anders, wir werden sehen?)

Zumindest von uns wird schon in den nächsten Tagen was kommen. Ich mach mal einen kleinen, spontanen Aufschlag … weil eben ein Bücherstapel neben meinem Schreibtisch umgekippt ist, den ich gleich fotografiert habe:

Ich habe lange Zeit versucht, mir ein systematisches digitales Wissensmanagement anzulegen, in dem ich Notizen zu Büchern mache, die ich lese, in denen ich blättere oder zu denen ich bestimmte, noch unverifizierte Erwartungen habe. Einen Zettelkasten beispielsweise. Ich hatte andere Interessierte gefunden und mich zu Meetups verabredet. Ich hatte eine richtige Zettelkasten-Nerd-Community erschlossen. Und ich hatte lange gebraucht, um festzustellen, dass das für mich nicht funktioniert. Ich bin kein systematischer Notizenmacher, ich kann keinen Zettelkasten pflegen. Ich springe hin und her und möchte viel lieber weiterlesen oder ein anderes Buch lesen als mir zu viele Gedanken zur Struktur meiner Notizen zu machen. Stattdessen externalisiert sich meine Art, Bücher anzulesen und wieder wegzulegen, meine Lektüre zu planen oder zu wünschen, in kleinen physischen Türmchen (in denen auch viele kleine Zettel stecken, das sieht man auf dem Foto nicht.) Meine Bücherregale haben an allen Ecken und Enden kleine Bereiche, in denen sich gerade irgendwie aktuelle Bücher ansammeln … und irgendwann woanders hinwandern, weil sie eine andere aktuelle Relevanz erhalten haben. Neben mir auf dem Boden stapeln sich Bücher, die ich in den letzten Tagen in der Hand hielt, weil ich sie für irgendetwas brauchte, brauchen wollte oder weil sie einfach noch keinen Platz im Regal gefunden haben. Manchmal setze ich mich in meinen Sessel und mache Bestandsaufnahme, was mich da in letzter Zeit beschäftigte. Und oft entdecke ich dabei Bücher, mit denen ich mich vor langer Zeit gerne beschäftigt hätte, dann aber doch nicht die Zeit gefunden habe.

Ist das „Persönliches Wissensmanagement“? Ich vermute schon … aber mehr Gedanken zu chaotischen, wachsenden und emergenten Weisen des Wissensmanagements mache ich mir vielleicht in meinem Buchbeitrag? Oder auch nicht? Mal sehen, was mich reizt, wenn der Call for Papers draußen ist. Und welchen Einfluss das wohl auf schwankende Bücherstapel hat … ?

One thing I noticed from my quarterly Claude vault analysis: the 30-minute review was useful, but the specification note I'd built with Claude beforehand was doing most of the work.

When Claude analysed my Obsidian vault, it mapped disconnected note clusters — groups that don't connect to the rest.

My clusters: AI and tech (unsurprising), gaming, personal finance, health and pressure.

What surprised me: it didn't flag philosophy, which I'd have expected.

I find striking how much of a hype there is around concepts like "second brain", "zettelkasten", "networked note-taking", "PARA method", "Johnny Decimal", etc., and around note-taking apps such as Roam Research, Notion, Obsidian, and so on. So I found fascinating Kevin Baker's May 2024 take on them as "sandboxes for infinite varieties of avoidant labor".

Here's the relevant excerpt, shared without further comment:

"Incapacitating" is exactly how I would describe my relationship to computers, especially since the start of the pandemic. "Friction" for me looks like uncertainty, partial knowledge, ambiguity, disorder, or anxiety. The ecosystem of note taking software and influencers that has emerged since 2020 offer a great example of what I am talking about. Writing is a task which forces one to confront ambiguity, uncertainty, and one’s own limits directly, so it’s not surprising that a coterie of avoidance entrepreneurs sprung up around it. The goal of note taking systems, almost without exception, is to provide a smooth, frictionless environment for making connections between disparate topics. As your “second brain” develops, the ability—and indeed the desire—to create a dense latticework of connections increases. The problem for me, at least, is that I don’t find the work of making connections to be difficult. If anything, my “first brain” tends to overproduce these kinds of thoughts.

What it does provide, however, is a sandbox for infinite varieties of “avoidant labor.” If your writing anxiety focuses, like mine frequently does, on the possibility of “accidental plagiarism,” well, you can tend to your “zettlekasten,” and ensure that everything you ever highlighted is properly cited and tagged. If you have a more generic form of writing anxiety, why not spend a few hours linking your notes? In both cases, you have an act adjacent to writing, which relieves some of the tension of not writing but actively avoids the task itself.

@eludom There are awesome paper based methods out there. For example #BulletJournal.

However, that's focused on todo and project management and not so much on #knowledgebase management.

The original #Zettelkasten method was on paper and for that purpose.

Digital methods scale much better and require less effort though IMO.

@eludom There are awesome paper based methods out there. For example #BulletJournal.

However, that's focused on todo and project management and not so much on #knowledgebase management.

The original #Zettelkasten method was on paper and for that purpose.

Digital methods scale much better and require less effort though IMO.

It's way more open than, let's say, #OneNote & so forth. Unfortunately, it's far from being a #textformat that can be reused anywhere without problems. At least I need to convert MD all the time from one flavor to a different.

With more and more #Obsidian add-ons introducing their own syntax elements, you will end up with clear text files you still can't convert for a different tool without modifications. Good luck with finding out which elements are going to survive and which not. For a few files, that seems OK. If you have a decent #PKM like you describe in your awesome #DulyNoted book, it requires more effort.

For everything I need to use with #MD, I keep a syntax file with one example element so that I keep an overview & know what to convert how in case I need to reuse information stored in this MD flavor.

With org, I just push it through #pandoc & I'm done. 🤷
