I'm a 3rd gen #AmericanBornChinese (#ABC).

Grew up hearing #Cantonese, which is my native #ChineseLanguage, spoken all around me when I was growing up but I was never required to speak Cantonese with others.

So, while I can speak a few words & phrases, I cannot carry on a conversation in Cantonese.

I've dabbled with learning how to speak Cantonese well enough to carry on a normal conversation for some time using books & tapes, which always resulted in failure. in the past.🤷‍♂️

I'm at it again, this time using #GoogleTranslate to help me in the process, which I'm using to learn new words & how words should be pronounced & structured to carry on a conversation.

Hoping to keep at to to gradually build up some fluency that I can practice w/my ABC GF, who knows how to speak a bit more Cantonese than I do.

For anyone who can speak #Chinese #ChineseLanguage #Mandarin ... having an issue with a poor translation.
ANY idea what "Left Peptide" and "Right Peptide" means in the context of a car headunit / radio?

As far as I can tell, it has something to do with what side the steering wheel is on I think, or which side the driver sits at, or something about the driver's door.
I can't tell what it actually changes though.

This wiki bio I wrote last year came up on my watchlist and in re-reading it I'm very unhappy with how awkward this translation sounds (I didn't translate it, I read 0 Chinese, it was in a book somewhere).
Can anyone suggest a more elegant Chinese-to-English translation for this 平民女子会 ?
It currently says "Association for Women Masses" which does not sound idiomatic in English...
