  6. A quotation from Samuel Johnson

A transition from an author’s book to his conversation, is too often like an entrance into a large city, after a distant prospect. Remotely, we see nothing but spires of temples and turrets of palaces, and imagine it the residence of splendour, grandeur and magnificence; but when we have passed the gates, we find it perplexed with narrow passages, disgraced with despicable cottages, embarrassed with obstructions, and clouded with smoke.

Samuel Johnson (1709–1784) English writer, lexicographer, critic
Essay (1750-05-05), The Rambler, No. 14

  7. Why Boston?

The most important part of the novaTop, geoTop, and futoTop identities alike is access to the City of Boston, in particular because of quite a few attractions and points of interest. In the City of Boston, the capital and largest city of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and largest and social hub for the entirety of New England, numerous intersecting places of interest converge into a singular stream of identity. However, even outside of Boston proper, similarly diverse, multifaceted, and […]

  11. There is a personality, or social style, or something, that I find unpleasant and very challenging to deal with. IDK its real name, but I think of it as smth like "instant and constant disapproval".

There are people who seem to use this as their coping mechanism for life. They find reasons to be annoyed with their environment and people in it. They don't hide it. There might be a small number of people they are generally pleased with, but I've seen that often those people just do what the constantly-annoyed person wants, which is of course quite nice.

I assume this approach to life gives people a sense of control or familiarity. I also think it might, for some people, be due to basically innate ongoing discomfort due to whatever biological processes lead to colicky baby syndrome, DMDD, and a host of related conditions.

In any case, it takes a toll on me. I find it deeply frustrating. I've spent a lot of my life learning to avoid those people, because I am almost never able (or inclined) to spend the time and energy needed to figure out how to live up to their internal standards day by day.

  12. The concept of #SelfIdentity involves our understanding of who we are in the #society. We need to know the #nature of who we are to believe in ourselves. Our #past #experiences also shaped our #beliefs about our #future, #beliefs and #knowledge of the #world. This can #influence how truly we see ourselves by #person.
