@bajabanjo @oconnell @pluralistic Hi there! Yes, everything was recorded and the #FediverseHouse videos are currently being edited (there's a lot of footage!). We'll let folks know here and on our @surf channel where to find everything when it's posted. In the meantime, you can find @mike's conversation with @molly0xfff on the #SXSW site here:

Some extracts from my pinned toot concerning the ways in which #Uniswap is a particularly diabolical means of capital extraction devised by #TheNerdReich bros of #a16z, #SequoiaCapital, and the rest (and their obscenely well paid and equally obscenely dishonest lawyers) and how the capital being extracted is currently being funneled into the 2024 election.
(The specifics of the electoral corruption are better documented by @molly0xfff; this is more an in depth explainer of the mechanics of one of The Nerd Reich's more effective grifts.)

I joined a few weeks ago but haven't done my #introduction.
I work as a #crypto #operations manager for a #primebroker. My interests include grinding through data using #python, #google #appscript, and #awk, starting the occasional painting, and building #synths from parts. I'm too stupid to ever leave #nyc.
Thanks @nova for hosting me on hachyderm and @molly0xfff for leading me to it.

Pretty weird that this is publicized as being about the #Fediverse but there's not anyone from any #ActivityPub distribution mentioned
Docktorow, Masnick from the techy rag Techdirt, Evan #MaxiFedi Prodromou from WC3, Cottle from Threads, and Paul Frazee from Bluesky
Anyone missing you can think of?
I sure can

It's mostly crime (both organized and not organized, but not easy to prove) and destroys the planet as a side effect. These companies make America worse, not better.
Cryptocurrency shouldn't be regulated, it should be banned

CW: uspol, right-wing "news" orgs lying about imaginary left-wing bias, comic-book fandom
I used to watch the same strategy play out in comic book fandom back in the days when everything was still blogs and forums: someone behave badly, get a timeout or a ban or whatever, and then they'd go somewhere else (or try to work the moderators) and lie about why they'd been blocked, insisting it was because they liked such-and-such a character and the moderators were biased toward some other character. Even though the other people on the forum who liked the same character but weren't going around being jerks were still being allowed to post.
When it's just a few people arguing about which Flash is better, and some of them are being assholes, the stakes are a lot lower than when "news" organizations are pretending that they're being censored for simply being on one side of an ideological divide, when looking at the actual data shows that they're lying about that too, and it's really just that people are tired of them lying so damn much and/or putting people in actual, direct danger. (Again, not just which side of the left/right divide they're on.)

He also writes “As I have had to focus on responding to these questions rather than drafting a response to the prosecution's opposition, and because I do not believe I will get a fair hearing on this topic in front of you, I am now requesting to withdraw the Rule 33 motion” (for a new trial)

Sam Bankman-Fried’s affidavit has arrived. He says his attorneys of record had no input into his motion for a new trial, but that he shared drafts with his parents (both attorneys). “They made editorial and organizational suggestions, some of which I incorporated”

Newsletter: As they angle for a presidential pardon in television interviews, Sam Bankman-Fried’s law professor parents file “pro se” motions for their adult son, leave voicemails with the judge, and sign documents claiming they're from him in prison.

And finally he demands Judge Kaplan recuse himself, arguing he showed "extreme prejudice". Both that argument and his "no actual loss" theory are already being litigated in his pending appeal before the Second Circuit, which I wrote about here: https://www.citationneeded.news/issue-96/#sbf

His motion mainly argues that two former FTX employees who didn't testify (Daniel Chapsky and Ryan Salame) would have undercut prosecutors' narrative, but were threatened out of testifying. He also claims Nishad Singh was coerced by prosecutors into changing his testimony.
It also repeats his longstanding argument that the funds were never missing and that FTX was never insolvent. (Judge Kaplan got a bit sick of this argument during trial, pointing out that repayment doesn't negate fraud).

Sam Bankman-Fried has just filed a pro se motion for a new trial, via his mother

Lawyers for Sam Bankman-Fried and for the US government appeared in court to argue whether Bankman-Fried’s conviction should be overturned. SBF argued that he was improperly prohibited from presenting arguments around FTX’s solvency and the advice of his lawyers.
It may be several months before the judges come to a decision, but they seemed skeptical of Bankman-Fried’s arguments during questioning. “[Y]ou just have this vague, you know, ‘there were attorneys out there somewhere,’ defense,” said one of the judges.

Newsletter: Although Sam Bankman-Fried tried to withdraw his motion for a new trial, Judge Kaplan rejected it on its merits. This leaves Bankman-Fried with essentially no realistic avenues to avoid his 25-year prison sentence.

Bloomberg has filed their opposition to Justin Sun’s renewed motion for emergency relief, arguing they never promised not to publish the information he and his team provided to them. They also argue that his demands they remove the article about him and prevent them from publishing a second one would violate the First Amendment.

Justin Sun has hired Baker & Hostetler lawyer Teresa Goody Guillén to represent him in his lawsuit against Bloomberg. Goody Guillén has previously represented the Trump family’s World Liberty Financial, and she has lobbied for a presidential pardon for Binance’s Changpeng Zhao.
I wrote about her in the August issue of my newsletter: https://www.citationneeded.news/issue-90/#in-the-white-house

gotta love the Maine elections coming up where people are going to vote for King or Pingree in the gubernatorial thinking they're their parents (Senator and Congresswoman), or Baldacci in CD-2 thinking he's his brother (former governor)
