  1. why do we not habitually highlight the discrepancy bw right-wing assholes who question climate science and vaccine safety?

so when julie sladden for example flies into canberra ask her about whether she relieved to have landed in one piece, she must be a bit skeptical about bernoullli's theorum and how the fuck do magnets work anyhow

does she understand how her iphone works? is it friendly relay spirits in the sky how the fuck does she get off throwing shade on vaccine science if she's not terrified of being at 30,000 feet

this is the job of journalism surely

  6. CW: uspol, right-wing "news" orgs lying about imaginary left-wing bias, comic-book fandom

I used to watch the same strategy play out in comic book fandom back in the days when everything was still blogs and forums: someone behave badly, get a timeout or a ban or whatever, and then they'd go somewhere else (or try to work the moderators) and lie about why they'd been blocked, insisting it was because they liked such-and-such a character and the moderators were biased toward some other character. Even though the other people on the forum who liked the same character but weren't going around being jerks were still being allowed to post.

When it's just a few people arguing about which Flash is better, and some of them are being assholes, the stakes are a lot lower than when "news" organizations are pretending that they're being censored for simply being on one side of an ideological divide, when looking at the actual data shows that they're lying about that too, and it's really just that people are tired of them lying so damn much and/or putting people in actual, direct danger. (Again, not just which side of the left/right divide they're on.)
