  1. An article from AP News about batteries. Knew it was a big deal in CA and TX. Know is building some in substations. Using and not . ConEd is supposed to be replacing polluting plants with batteries. Overall, very encouraging. Have to check the article for mentions of batteries. Long past time for to wake the fuck up.

  2. Looking into ADA requirements for ramps and steps but found a bit about how curb ramps should prevent an accumulation of water.

    Paragraph 406.1 says that Curb ramps must be designed to prevent an accumulation of water.
    Does that mean all intersections where there are curb ramps and water accumulates are out of compliance? Sounds this a motivation for continuous sidewalks?



  3. In The Sea Around Us, says that it is well known in Europe that reach their peak activities during a spring tide. Is this also true of oysters in NYC? I know they tend to spawn when the waters are warm. A spring tide would mean a strong flood which would bring in lots of food.

  4. Last night there was a terrible collision on the Henry Hudson parkway. The HHP was closed and all traffic diverted to Riverside. This was all done without notice. It proved that six lanes on the HHP are not necessary. The hhp could be converted to a boulevard which would make it much safer and eliminate most of these collisions.

  5. @Nathanpboston @gpk I live in NYC and understand its way too expensive to rewire the building and do not expect to change its wiring. Totally believe the ONLY solution to the grid is and in the case of to have safe batteries in every apartment. Would allow running all variety of electric appliances like stovetops and electric ovens.
