Concerned about a couple cells in one of my 24v LiFePo4 batteries. Cells 4 and 5 once above a certain voltage just race into overvoltage. This battery will be relatively well balance until it hits 28V, then a minute later it's seriously out of balance and gone into overvoltage protection at 29V.
Any thoughts?

Auto kun on ollut seisonnassa nyt kylmimmän talven ajan niin olikin #LiFePo4 akku päässyt tyhjenemään niin paljon, että BMS oli mennyt suojatilaan. Eipä muuta kuin lämpöä, kennot sarjamuodosta irti ja 0,01C virralla nostamaan jännitettä ensin pareittain ja sitten kaikki rinnan.
Illalla olikin kennot jo aika rasvassa ja sai normaalin latauksen päälle yön yli. -

Du solltest die Spannung nehmen die im Datenblatt angegeben ist
Die ist auch noch Temperatur abhängig
In Parallel und Reihenschaltung benötigst Du ein #BMS aka #LoadBalancer
Der Innenwiderstand schwankt
Das führt zu unterschiedlichen Ladezuständen
Nimm besser eine einzige Dicke
Oder Du nimmst eine ParallelSchaltung und lädst die #LiFePo4 einzeln
Ist eine voll, wird die andere geladen
Du solltest auch die Kapazität so wählen das sie am besten zwischen 30-80% liegt> Datenblatt

My UPS (an Eaton 5e850iUSB-AU) has been angrily beeping at me and saying I need to replace the battery. It's a lead acid. Can I / How do I determine if I can swap it out for a LiFePo instead?
edit: battery is 12V/9AH, and dimensions are approx 150x90x65mm
tl;dr: some LiFePO4 have a BMS that allows them to be charged as if they were lead-acid. They will generally be labelled/described as drop-in replacements for those.
conclusion: Why?! The only upside is lighter weight, which doesn't matter here, and the downsides are increased cost and risk of fire, even if unlikely. Pb ftw.

Приветствую, глубоко уважаемые! Сегодня все у нас на литии, и даже под воду мы тащим литий, но вместе с ним — сложные, тяжёлые и дорогие нормобарические корпуса. Возникает вопрос: мы правда защищаем аккумуляторы от среды или просто страхуемся традицией, не зная, на что они реально способны под давлением? Чтобы ответить, пришлось устроить LiFePO₄ 18650 стресс-тест. Результат, как водится, - убил. Под катом 150 килограмм на квадратный сантиметр, аккумуляторы, щепотка сопромата и ключ на 55. Начать погружение!

OK so here's the verdict: do not replace the lead acid battery of a #UPS with a #LiFePO4 battery unless either:
- the UPS discharge cutoff is higher than the battery cutoff
- the UPS tries to charge (puts 12V+ on the battery terminals) even if it reads 0V at startupWhat happens is that the battery discharges too low, the BMS kicks in and that puts <1V on its terminals.
On AC resume the UPS thinks there's no battery installed and refuses to start (also no AC passthrough in my case)Trying UPS2
